Dragon Picture

I just scanned and uploaded a dragon picture I drew a short while ago,
and would appreciate some C&C. It's patiently waiting at
http://www.gatekeeper.demon.co.uk/two/pencildrac.html at the mo.
Would you believe this baby was 22.3 MB when I first scanned it?? I've
had some words with it and it's now only 68.7 KB, but it had me kinda
scared for a minute.
It's a little attempt at a totally pencil drawing, which I don't venture
into much because it nearly always results in a big grey blob, and I
always smudge it (as you can see on this one). It's also one of my
recent attempts at less cartoon-like drawing.
Anyway, I know the snout looks crap an' all, but besides that, what does
everybeast think? (and yeah, I know it's only half a dragon - I'm lazy.)

hmm, did you scan it as a tiff file? cause they are huge compared to
jpgs.. of course most scanners do seem to use that format..

You can have compressed TIFFs ... it was probably scanned in as a BMP
though.

YEOW!! You sure you and I weren't in Auto CAD class together a few years
ago? One of my classmates was trying to make the word "Metallica" using the
shuriken-like logo off of the cover of one of their albums, and while most
of our projects were only like 40-50K, his was about 16M..

I like it :-). Really good work. Especially the shading. I don't think the snout
looks crap at all.

Lovely! I'm an admirer of well done pencil drawings. The directional
way you shaded works wonderfully on the wings!
As for criticism... you achieve a nice range of grays, and your darks
are good and... dark! :) You could increase the contrast even more if
you made the lighter parts of the drawing even lighter, leaving the very
lightest parts white (like maybe along the wing ridge, on the horns and
the round of the eye). Just an idea.
Keep it up! :D

Nice effort, lines and composition. These big files are murder. I have
cable Internet and had to exercise some patience waiting for the file to
download. You can compress your graphics without the big boy high end
programs, compliments of Adobe.
