Better late than never... **sheepish grin**

The Portrait has now celebrated it's One Year Anniversary!!!!! and has
once again been updated. For those who don't remember, or who don't
know what I'm talking about, the address is

...but not Thrames, who I'm still waiting for a size from. Thrames?

**gasps for breath**

There have been quite a few other changes this month (and a half,
*cough*cough*), all of which are listed on the Portrait page.

Questions, comments and constructive criticism are always welcome. As
usual, all afd-ers who have been here at least a month are invited to
appear the portrait, all I need from you is a picture and your size,
in feet for preference. Oh, and please make sure you can give me the
email of the artist, if it wasn't you or another afd-er, so I can get
permission to use the pic.

If you don't have a picture but want to be in, have a look at
http://www11.ewebcity.com/afdportrait/artists.html for a free artist
or some dragon/furry drawing tutorials to help you out.

Um, yeah, that brings up a problem I have with the portrait...not with how
it looks or anything, it looks GREAT, but maybel a little TOO great...um....

Well, what I mean is this. Some of the dragons and such in that portrait
are pretty cute, and I don't mean that in the innocent way...I won't say who
because it'd probably freak them out beyond belief, but the fact that I'm
even going through this scares ME a little too...I mean, sure, they're cute,
but these are other people's characters!! That's just a LITTLE unhealthy to
be thinking that about them...I mean, I know I'D feel at least a little
weird if someone were to tell me that they think my character is cute in
that way...yet here I am trying my best not to do that to the others
myself....bleh, this whole thing is going to get me into a load of trouble

Oh, and I have to add that since your picture is at least shaded and such,
it fits in more nicely than the one I did in paint. :-b Not that mine is
BAD, I actually think the cartoonish style and the "I just made this in
Paint in half an hour" look makes it look kind of cute (in the innocent

if not more, even though I'm behind a bunch of people. :-b

change the code, and I should have changed the portrait page myself.
Next month, I promise!

I knew about it, so I have done this month's update based on data in the
database, not my list of names that has been compiled. That's actually how I
plan on doing things from now on.

I think that's a bad idea, TBH. It could lead to hurt feelings, as
events celebrating conformity to an ideal rather than individuality
often do.

We're here to enjoy our own uniqueness, after all, not the fact we may
or may not be considered more attractive than someone else to a third
party! :=8)

Do so if you wish, but be aware that any sort of ranking for the
portraits could dissuade the generous artists who are creating them
for other folks from offering again. I'm not saying it will, note,
merely that it is a risk.

Beauty pageants huh? Well, I don't think I would get any votes and not because
I'm being down on myself, but rather I think I look, erm, "unique." :) For
example, the pictures of dragonesses I've seen... well they "look" female and I
don't think I do. I think I might win the "Tyrant" catagory however. :)

I don't know about you lot but I don't want to be found attractive. I don't
want folks thinking I'm sexy. The pictures I do, well... I'd be pretty upset if
I found out someone was looking at them in a lustful manner to put it lightly.
:P I knew one guy who was doing that with my donkeyragon pictures - I was NOT,
N - O - T happy.

Anyway... I don't think we should compete like that. I think some feelings
would be hurt somewhere along the line, even if it isn't mentioned here.

Sorry my dear, but I really have to agree with the general consensus -
a beauty contest, while a nice idea, could easily spark off all sorts
of nastiness. The idea of the Portrait is not to compete, and I
certainly don't want people thinking that they shouldn't submit their
picture because it might not live up to some perceived standard.

On the other hand, if you want to institute your own beauty pageant,
where people can submit their pics if they want to, well I won't
complain. But you won't catch me entering either...

<G> With this group, you're probably right. But we used to frequently
have "beauty" and "talent" contests in the Dominance. They were
hilarious and usually lead to some great posts. ;) I even met
Athelind during one of the male beauty/talent contests! <chuckles>

I especially miss the talent contests...it was interesting learning

Naah. More than anything else, that color is singularly fetching.

Ahh, so if I happen to be any other color I wouldn't be so much of a fox
anymore, would I? I never knew anyone would appeal to such a pale bronze,
but life is full of surprizes. ^_^

Ha, and you hoped I wouldn't see it! :)

No need to insert feet/miscellaneous appendages. We're still friends and
all, and he lives within walking distance of me. He is not locked in
anyone's basement. :)

It's more of a mustard yellow than a bronze. Perhaps I was hungry.

Don't look at me as an edible now. ;=8P

That color usually is more metallic looking, but it doesn't in the
portrait. Of course I should make a new portrait because I don't like
mustard. ^_^

Actually, it's not so bad, but you'll have to give up certain habits such as
eating food.

Not really, although I must admit I am starting to get sick of the legal
text-ish info that keeps popping up at the top of all the messages from you
and Draxaan that I read...partially because of the extra snipping, but
mainly because it has this tendency of turning the subject line to "Re:

I don't remember ever doing that. I've seen it cut off parts of it (Re: In

Re: In defense of) became Re: Damn fool ) but never the whole enchilada.

I know, others think I am gold just looking at me if they didn't know any

So what if I'm just slightly less occluded? This thread has zero effect on
how the portrait is arranged. It's totally a coincidence!

Snoopy? I thought it was an old kid's show (something like the Mickey Mouse

Ich. The movie I saw was great, but staring at that giant screen gave me a
headache.

I'd say not -- it implies the other half of the relationship isn't a
complete person without you, which is patently untrue.

I for one would take it as a mild insult, though I must admit I do
often refer to others' partners as "other halves", if only because
it's a better term of reference than "partner". :=8)

Quite. And you spelled 'albeit' wrong.

Hey, hey, Sonarrat Citalis saved the world today. Everybody's happy
now, the bad thing's gone away. And everybody's happy now, the good
thing's come to stay. (Please . . . let . . . it . . . stay. . . .)

No I didn't, it's a figment of your imagination . . . :Ş

Care to venture a guess for the reference . . . ? No . . . ? Oh well
. . .

It's from Mystical Ninja, a video game for the N64. There's this one
henchman which Goemon *The main character of the game.* always calls a
weirdo, and the guy retorts back with that sentence above, which is
usually followed by the annoying laugh track.

No, but I'm sure you already know what I was talking about . . . :Ş

You never know, lots of others thought their loved ones would never do
that, as well . . .

I think it's from the Howdy Doody show in the 1950s, but I'm not
completely sure.

And hence, an uninteresting and one-sided relationship between a
sorcerer and a bonehead comes to an end. }:)

That's what immediately came to mind, so let's just agree to that. :>

Hmm... Well, I've heard that the phrase "peanut gallery" comes from the late
1800s. At that time, balcony seats were the cheapest, since they were farthest
from the stage and so had the worst sound and the worst view. The poorest
audience members would take these seats, and would show disapproval for the person
on stage by the most common theater snack of the time, peanuts. Later, the phrase
was popularized by the Howdy Doody show.
