Hey everybody.... I'm not quite a newbie here... but i'm still hiding in
the shadow of the lurking stone. Anyways, I NEED HELP! I'm an "artist"
(sort of), but i've kinda gotten out of the habit of drawing for no reason
and i'm finding it very hard to start again. I need inspiration! I bought
all new stuff, sketch pad, pencils, the works!! but still i remain... well..
empty... any ideas, requests, anything, would be a great help. I'll put
all AFD inspired artwok on my website and your more than welcome to steal
it... oh well, have to go.. to bright out here in the spotlight... *jumps
up and runs behing the lurking stone*

Maybe you should start by drawing a pair of eyes and then go from there (works for me)...
...but you're not me so may not work (really, how would I know??)...

read a fairy tale. try to describe scenes from the story in small,
minimalistic images - or capture the event that most captivated you on the
paper.

if it doesn't lead to anything great, at least you will have learned a fairy
tale!

the link Nargus(?) gave to the reptile-draconian site contains a lot of good
tales about dragons, <http://www.reptilianagenda.com/menumyth.html>; i also
recommend searching for Grimm's fairy tales (the *complete* list, not just
the same five that get constantly retold until they fall apart). there is a
great hoard out there, just waiting to be taken.

frequently post looking for an artist to draw them, either for the AFD

Hey Doctor.Nik!

hmmmmm, how about you try drawing a scene from your favourite book,
really intricate and imaginative scens like those in Pratchett books
will probly work well for this and it's always interestin to see
different peoples interpretasions.
Or you could try drawing an abstract concept like time or love or
anger or qauntum mechanics, that's always good to get the imaginative
juices going.

not being funny but, unless yr a fantabulous artist, that isn't gonna
help much. start by drawing from life.

pick, say, the ocean or a fire or just sit in a really crowded place &
do quick sketches of the people as they go by. lots and lots of quick,
rough sketches. they aren't gonna be pretty, finished drawing but most
likely you will get some lovely lines &shapes &it'll probably start you
off again.

then progress to some kind of still life (not necessarily fruit in a
bowl or flowers or whatever. nothing bores me more than drawing that).
maybe try some portraits, draw yr pet or whatever.

good luck!

Well, having seen some of Erynn's art now, I'd have to say she's a
pretty fantabulous artist already... *g* She draws some brilliant
dragons, not to mention some very kyoot big-eyes animals!
