I very rarely post to newsgroups, so I hope this comes through ok.
I'm an occasional lurker here and was hoping someone could help me:
Does anyone know where this picture comes from? I'd love to find a
print of it, but haven't had any luck. Thanks in advance.

sure it's related to dragonmeet2 (or even the same artist, although it
could very well be), as odd as that sounds. :-\ I'll keep looking
though. I haven't even been able to find the
website I originally got it from, else I would have asked the
webmaster. Thanks for your help, though. :-)

It didn't on my server, but then this is a non-binary newsgroup, so most
image posts get filtered. If too many binaries appear in text groups,
news admins start dropping them, so for future reference, it's best to
put the image on a website and then post a link here, rather than
sending out the image directly.
That said, I hope you're successful in your search!

Actually, yes I know at least one place where that picture is used. It's on
page 6 of Anne McCaffery's book "A Diversity of Dragons" (

Since the book is "illustrated by John Howe" you might try doing a search
for his name on line to find out more information on the pic and others like
it.

*grin* Not a great deal that can be done after it's sent, you're right.
Cancelling posts is technically possible, but many servers don't honour
cancel requests, and I've never found it particularly reliable, in any

purpose, but it's a photo used in the book about dragons and Anne McCaffry.
Supposedly some reporter with a "Dragon problem" seeks out McCaffery to ask
for help, and they go through all the clasic books with dragons in them to
remove all the stereotypes set on us. It supposedly happened in real life,
too, but I don't know for sure. The picture should be in Ireland, outside
of Anne's house, with the car of the guy just driving up.

The book by Anne McCaffrey isn't particularly good for accuracy of the
various legends. She altered them to fit in with her views rather than
sticking to the true acknowledged myths. I'm not particularly a fan of the
book, or Anne McCaffrey for that matter.
