Just a quick reminder that on Radio 4's 'Book of the Week', tonight and
every night this week (22:45-23:00), Eoin Colfer will be reading 'And
Another Thing'

'Book at Bedtime', rather, not 'Book of the Week'. Oops! [Embarrassed
grin etc.]

In fact just ignore me and consult a reliable listings guide, as
apparently it is 10 parts long...not 5, so should continue past this week.
[Another embarrassed grin]

I'll get my coat... ;)

Doesn't that seem counter-productive to selling books? Maybe they are
just hoping people will miss a segment (or only catch a few) then buy
the book to fill in the gaps.

Those BBC people are a sneaky lot (or a lot sneaky).

I bloody love books, me, but I'm also officially the world's laziest
sod. About 15 years ago when my grandfather lost his sight, I used to go
the library to get him audio books - BINGO! I found my way in life. Now
I'll gladly let someone read me to sleep on a CD rather than do it
myself. I've spent a fortune on audio books (they cost a
lot...especially the big ones like Lord of the Rings and Dune). I was
over the moon to learn of this radio 4 reading. It's very good, too,
with a few sound effects and a separate 'voice of the book'.

Yes, it is rather counter-productive to selling books. Good on them
though. No chance of me missing a segment - I programmed my PVR for all
ten parts and will burn them to disc for posterity.

Chuckle, I still managed to cock up this heads up...Eoin Colfer isn't
reading it. It's some English bloke. Very good he is too.

As for the book itself, it's more gag heavy than what we're used to but
all definitely in the style and vein of Mr Adams. Certainly a worthwhile
HHGTTG book. I'll say no more as I know folks haven't read it yet.

Enjoy...however you digest the new book.

My 'mostly spoiler-free' review is blogged at:
http://blog.thorx.net/2009/10/and-another-thing-a-review/

Minor character spoilers in the 'the negative' part of the review, so
if you read the intro and 'the positve', I'm pretty sure I gave
nothing away :)
