Imus called on the carpet for using a slur
BY STEVEN SNYDER

Less than a week after Don Imus made headlines as he challenged John
Kerry to apologize for a botched joke about the war in Iraq, the shock
jock himself is being called on to apologize.

In a statement yesterday by Rene Astudillo, executive director of the
Asian American Journalists Association, the organization called on Imus
to apologize for a joke made on yesterday's "Imus in the Morning" show.

According to a complaint e-mailed to the AAJA, a segment of Imus'
program addressed a story about obesity in China. At one point, Imus
interrupted sidekick Charles McCord and asked whether anyone had ever
seen a "fat Chinaman," the complaint said. McCord tried to correct him,
but Imus reportedly repeated the word several times.

"The word ... is considered a slur to those in the Asian American
community," Astudillo's statement said, noting that it originally
referred to Chinese workers who built the American transcontinental
railroad.

A spokesman for WFAN-AM said he was "sure Imus will address the subject
in the morning."

I'm sure he will indeed..

I dunno, I didn't call.

Never talk to the media. They're assholes.
