Wow, I must admit that I'm really saddened to hear this news...
He's been a regular attendee at the yearly pulp show here in Mission
Hills... He was scheduled to appear again in just a few weeks...
When I was manning the Secret Sanctum table at this event, my mom spent a
lot of time listening to his yarns, tales... and he was always fan-friendly...
What a great guy... He WILL be missed...

74??? man, he could easily pass for 50... Imagination keeps us young....

Yeah, I really enjoyed meeting Mike at PulpCon a few years
back. What a nice guy. I found his a pair of glasses at
a dealer's table, and he said that he thought they were
Michael Avallone's. So, I took them and found Mike. He
was extremely grateful and chatted with me for some time.
He told me my name sounded like a private eye's name, which
I, of course, enjoyed immensely. I even bought one of his
MAN FROM UNCLE books after meeting him.

Was it one of the ultra-rare unsigned copies? <G>
