I revisted some Wall of Voodoo today on ym commute home. Anyone who has the means, go back and listen to the title track from the Call of The West album. I think the lyrics to this song display some of the coolest juxtapsition of the old west and modern middle class living that could ever be done...

Actually, I really did hear (see on SNL) Devo's version before I had ever heard the Rolling Stones' version (at least consciously - I didn't ever remember hearing the original before 1979 when somebody ultimately played it for me several week later).
That's when I thought about the notion that "The original one is always best" usually means "The first one you are exposed to is always the best".
