My first Bowie album was Live At The Tower Philadelphia,
was about 15 (in '77), rushed out and bought more... I
remember being struck with the character sketches, the glimpses
of dystopian societies. The seemingly insight laden quips.
I sought out Orwell's 1984 as a result 'Winston loved big brother
in the end', was compelled to read Ayn Rand's Anthem as well.

The mind of a kid boggles at the breadth of it all. Was a real
change of pace from the typically bland American fare of the period.
Thought I had made a stunning discovery. It was some kind of lucidity,
a luminescence that drew me in.

He was an immensely talented story-teller to me.
