Fri 7/31 - 40 - Adam Richman, Ben Harper & The Relentless Seven*
Notes: There are GTBNLs (Guests To Be Named Later) on Wednesday and Friday,
apparently. I'm looking forward to tonight's show, with Klum and Zahn
preceding Carr's quirky standup routine. On Thursday's show, Dagger and Kay
are a stunt-performing duo, and Spektor is a singer-songwriter of uncommon
talent. Harper should give the week a mellow finish.
More new shows next week.

> Mon 7/27 - 36 - Meryl Streep, Judd Apatow, The Fray*
William Shatner read Sarah Palin's resignation speech as poetry. Celebrity
Survey. Streep was sweet and self-deprecating, ending her segment by
attempting to play an odd instrument called a concertina. Apatow had some
off-color stories to share from his married life. The Fray performed "Never
Say Never," a radio-friendly song, if a bit derivative-sounding (Coldplay
comes to mind).
> Tue 7/28 - 37 - Heidi Klum, Steve Zahn, Jimmy Carr
Andy tried iFly. Klum, 28 weeks pregnant, was full of her usual spunk in a
spirited give-and-take with Conan. Zahn, fresh from picking up horse crap
on his farm, brought his laid-back sense of humor, and Carr hit the spot
more often than not with his jokes.
Wed 7/29 - 38 - Rainn Wilson, Rachel Maddow, +Chicago*
Shatner recited Palin's Twitter tweets. Jordan Schlansky house-hunting
remote bit. Wilson talked about nerdy things. Maddow talked about political
things. Chicago, with members of the Tonight Show Band, performed one of
their '70s hits, "25 or 6 to 4."
> Thu 7/30 - 39 - Jack Dagger, Tonya Kay, Paul Giamatti, Regina Spektor*
Squirm-inducing Bernie Madoff bit. Googling with the Stars bit. The first
guests were a knife-throwing act, with Dagger doing the throwing as his
assistant Kay stood still while knives flew around her. In the obligatory
host-participation part of the segment, Conan acquitted himself well for an
amateur. Giamatti wants everyone to know he is Italian, since he never gets
to play Italians in films. Spektor sang "Laughing With," an unusual take on
a serious subject (people's attitudes towards God during times of misfortune).
Fri 7/31 - 40 - +Hank Azaria, Adam Richman, Ben Harper & Relentless7*
Tonight Show Kiss Cam. Twitter Tracker. Azaria, of "Simpsons" fame, was a
late added guest. Richman brought some humongous entrees from his show "Man
Versus Food." Harper and his band, which seems to spell its name
Relentless7 rather than the more conventional way I spelled it previously,
performed "Fly One Time," a rather intense song exhorting us to free
ourselves from the immobilizing strictures of everyday life. Well, not in
those words, but that was the idea.
