I have relatives - a niece and her family - who moved to Perth, Oz, two
or three years ago. It's not box jellyfish, snakes, trap door spiders or
drop bears. It's man-eating sharks. Half the family have taken life
guard/rescue training; they live four blocks from a major surfing beach.
There's regular helicopter surveillance offshore the beach, and every
now and then the beaches are closed to swimming and surfing because of
sharks. They get great white, tiger and bull sharks. So far, none of my
relatives have been eaten, and they're very happy in Perth.
