On Thursday I unhooked my bicycle from the ceiling of my garage for
the first time in three years, refilled the tires and headed off to
the library. At the library, I collapsed onto a seat in the lobby for
a half hour before going in. On the way home, I needed a similar
half-hour collapse after arriving. I had intended to do a triangle
mission, but drove to the other errand because I didn't think I would
make it.
In the mid-eighties, my two brothers rode bicycles from Calgary to
Kelowna over two mountain ranges. And now I barely make the mile and
a half each way trip to the library?
I ended up in the ER later that evening, but the doctor insists that
my problem was unrelated to exercise.
(The rest of the weekend, the weather has been wrong for bicycling.
It's great until you actually try to go anywhere, then the
thunderstorms arrive. On Friday, on my way back from my GP, I
discovered that hail is a "pain" when riding a motorbike.)
