The meat of the matter: How did the October 2009 version of V (the
miniseries) compare with the previous rendition of it? If I were to
rent either version, which one should it be?
Is it a just a matter of updated effects and polishing the windows, or
did the casting play a part (heh), or did the writers get more into it
the first time or around ....
Or throw in your own ideas of how it SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE. Watch out
for ending up liking the Tom Criuise WoW better than the book-faithful
production.

I don't find it any better of worse than the original mini-series. If we
were talking the weekly series, nothing could be that bad.

I always heard the road to Hell was paved with good intentions
But nobody told me it was a superhighway!
From my fuzzy recollections of the original, this is about the same...
ie. adequate but not enthralling. We forgot to watch the second
episode and didn't particularly care, which tells you how high it is
on our radar. Is it actually a mini-series? I thought it was going to
be a full one.

Well, the new one isn't a miniseries - it's an actual weekly series. The
last episode for this year, though, is this week. But barring some out of
the blue cancellation, it will be back early next year.

I think the new one adds more plotlines and side things (which I guess you
would expect of a miniseries going to a weekly show). The main female
resistance fighter is now not a med student, but an FBI agent. The main guy
resistance fighter is now a priest instead of a cameraman, and the FBI agent
has a son who is the one involved with the V's the way the Jewish kid was in
the first series.
There have been what? 3 or 4 episodes now and we still haven't learned what
the purpose of the V's visiting is. I think that was pretty much revealed by
the second part of the old mini series. And once it *is* revealed, I'm not
sure where the series will go - I mean, is it just going to evolve into a
show about "fighting the V's and resisting their evil intentions" every
week? Because that will get old, fast.
