Lions Gate is notorious for spending very little on Oscar campaigns. I
remember how Variety noted that they spent next to nothing and were
delighted when GODS AND MONSTERS scored an Oscar win. (that was the year
that SAVING PRIVATE RYAN spent $14 million on an Oscar campaign!) And when
BUFFALO 66 was scoring critical acclaim, star and director Vincent Gallo had
to spend his own money on publicity.

AMERICAN PSYCHO has made numerous critics' Best of 2000 lists including the
huge full page acclaim from ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. And Bale scored 2 Best
Actor nominations. So he's a long shot without studio support, but the
critics liked him!
