What are people's opinions on GENOM, and what they're trying to do?

It's one thing that'll probably come up in my fanfic some time soon.
It's certainly something I want to look at. My opinion of GENOM is
that it's the same as any other corporation in history.... it's
interested in nothing more than market share and making money. Like
Microsoft, General Motors or Standard Oil. And who is Quincy but
another JD Rockerfeller?

Everything GENOM does, from starting wars to monopolising industry to
paying off politicians can and has been done by other corporations in
history. It really does seem to me to be that GENOM is nothing
different from what we've seen before, just bigger. And that thought
actually worries me a little bit.

Or could it be World Domination? That's certainly more fun.World
economic domination maybe? How would that work? That's what makes for
a good story, with epic stakes....

But, I like the banality. I really would like to play GENOM as every
multination we know, only bigger. And maybe when it eventually fails,
it fails in the same way. Rather than collapse, just sort of slowly
lose market share/profit as younger companies come up with new idea's.
Maybe GENOM grows complacent behind its boomer patents, when something
disruptive shows up, they get a nasty shock....

What do ye think?

Well, Genom tries to make a profit, and the corporation doesn't care about
anything else. Not how many people die in the wars it fans, nor where and
how they test their war gear. I think it's been stated more or less
implicitly that the ADP was created to be an opponent to Genom's combat
boomers to test their mettle against.

I don't think Genom's goal is world domination. There are other
corporations out there, Gulf & Bradley for example. Or the legal parts of
the Hou Bang.

Genom just got so big that it lost sight of any morale whatsoever.
Hm...sounds familiar, doesn't it?

IMHO, Genom's the product of a far too permissive economical policy, only
exacerbated by the average politician's general corruptibility.

Quincy himself...well, he could be anyone. And when I'm saying 'anyone', I
mean 'from Sylia's father to the OMS itself'.

Quincy as the OMS? I like that. Reminds me of the 'Nexus Boomer' from
the BGC EX sourcebook. There'd be a doozy of a fic in it. It's a nice
'final reveal', a Shyamamamlan (how?) style twist. The problem is the
story leading up to the twist...

And where did GENOM come from if it's chairman/CEO/Possible founder
was one of it's first products?

Who said Quincy *always* was the OMS. There are several obvious
possibilities:

First, the OMS replaced Quincy when he died.
This in itself could've happen two ways, by natural causes or by
assassination.

Second, the former Chairman wasn't Quincy, Quincy is and always has been
the OMS.
See above.

Third, Quincy uploaded himself when his body started to fail.

I like the last one. It so tweaks Mason's nose :D

Boomer-Quincy. I will continue if I will it. And my will is strong!.

Quincy copies. Low grade quincy copies, like recordings off a speech
compared to the real human being, hooked up to a machine *somewhere*
deep in the core of the tower, buried beneath lifesupport and neuro-
feed cables. Like 2040 Quincy but witth more techno-squickery.

I shredded the "Quincy boomerized himself" theory in our private
correspondence. You can continue to write undisturbed, pops.
