Which opening do you find the best? Mine is Double Vision, especially
when the title screen appears, and the music at that moment. Wow!

The opening to OVA 1 was what intrigued me.... it was an an epic
synchronisation of music, energy and animation.... errors and all. It
pulls you into the series. Everything that is BGC in those few
minutes. Action, technology, ADP dying like mooks, good music and
'visual appeal' of the female leads.

This is too subjective though to argue over, so I won't.

I forgot about Tinsel City. Excellent opening. On Animego DVDs, they
have the widescreen version. Breathtaking.

I happen to enjoy Tinsel City opening, well its the most memerable.
And it has both music and violence, you dont see that much anymore.

My personal faves happen to be Blow Up and Revenge Road. Blow Up was
just a new combat boomer going to town and doing what Genom does best,
pwning and raping the AD Police on a daily basis. Revenge Road sets
what the episode is about, road rage :) well, that and taking out a
bike gang on the freeway.

Moonlight Rambler is another great one which sets up the story for
that episode and for Red Eyes pretty much.

Now that I think about it, there's no BGC opening that's not
excellent. :D

Eh...Scoop Chase was...alright. If you look at it, its just some nice
song in the background as Nene gets ready for work and people waking
up. Thats the only one i think that really isnt excellent IMO.

Interesting animation though..... The whole skyline moving as Nené
rode through it, rather than just a static background.

I see nobody's mentioned 'Born to Kill' yet, though.

I appreciate it because of little, everyday things it shows. Andy
Skuse once remarked, correctly in my opinion, that BGC presents Knight
Sabers as regular woman when they don't wear that armor.

The entire series, being a product of the MTV generation, is pretty much
a set of music videos strung together with a (let's face it) weak plot.
I'm not surprised that all of the musical bits are at minimum "decent".

I'd apply this to Blow Up. Moonlight Rambler and on, became plot
driven.

I didnt say i hated it or anything, but on the entertainment factor,
this is the least entertaining. Its a beautifully done intro for that
episode and the music fits with it, but thats pretty much it. Yea, it
does show their real lives, but the only interesting thing about their
lives, is saving Mega Tokyo, not doing dance lessons or taking cop
chatter all day, its taking Genom down one rouge boomer at a time.

Yea, but like the rest of us, theres one big inside plot than the
outside weak plot that we have found out or stumbled apoun, which
makes the series a whole lot more interesting.

That wasnt bad either, but its just boomer chicks swimming and
scientist building a boomer, then they blow up. The song is good
though, i do give it that.

There is an odd sadness in the opening to Scoop Chase that gets me
every time.

After the initial boomer put-downs by Priss and Linna and our
introduction to Lisa, we get a very upbeat song (love that opening
guitar riff) juxtaposed with its very unhappy title "Bye Bye My
Crisis". Then we see the characters doing everyday things that have
nothing to do with the KS that would lead us to believe that maybe
they have all moved on and that they are now just perfectly ordinary
people (Linna jogging and smiling, Nene going to work, Sylia sipping
coffee, Priss bagged after a late night gig, Leon working out before
work etc). But having invested our time in the previous 7 eps we know
these *are* special characters, and we also know (this is what makes
it sad for me) that this is the last we will see of these particular
versions of the characters that we have come to know pretty well.
There is a feeling that we are saying goodbye too soon.

On the technical side, the quality of the animation steps up a notch
from previous episodes. The character designs are a little crisper and
cleaner than previous eps, and there is a bit more of a kawaii factor
in the characters faces. The characters have increased complexity in
their range of motion (watch Linna's ribbons in the intro, Nene
putting out the sign for Priss to stop when she gives her a ticket, or
Sylia's battle near the end with the boomer in the ADP Building
hallway for good examples). And the backgrounds have a bit more depth
and motion (watch Nene's scooter ride into the city and note the
individual buildings moving with the sun shining on them, and the
elevated parkway moving behind her). All of these improvements are
subtle, but when I started to understand how much more work was
involved in shooting these complex sequences I got a new appreciation
for this episode. Also, the sound is improved at least in the Japanese
version. Set the audio settings to Japanese Audio, crank your home
audio system, and then re-watch the scene where Linna slap-chops the
boomer at the start with her ribbons. The explosion that occurs is
awesome and perfectly timed, and should give any subwoofer the ability
to knock squirrels out of trees. As for the story, though many see it
as a light and fluffy ode to Nene, it is still tight and well-
executed, and has excellent pacing and action.

The intro may not be as exciting an opening as my favourite intro in
"Moonlight Rambler", but IMHO Scoop Chase deserves some respect for
all of the extra work that went into it :)

First time I watched Scoop Chase, I didn't know it was the last one. I
knew BGC had eight episodes (Or didn't; my memory's little be hazy.),
and when Lisa started to run and the ending song began to play, I
went, "What? That's it?! If this is the last episode, where's the
final showdown with Quincy?! It makes no sense!" I even fast forwarded
the tape, and I checked the program schedule for the next week,
expecting new parts to get shown. I was disappointed. Like somebody
gave me an unfinished product.
