Stumbled across this elsewhere on the internet.

Bubblegum Crisis Hard Metal Guardians.

It seems to be a Light Novel High-School AU. I can't find much other details beyond an image of 'Linna' in a maid outfit.

Has anyone heard anything about it?

The description found on http://nako1941.blog87.fc2.com/blog-entry-103.html
says (roughly):

"A lady and a butler, a maid, female high-schoolers, forming a band,
friends and criminals, mecha monsters, goth-loli and powered suits,
and a near-future Tokyo. A powered-up renewal, set in the world of
the masterpiece anime Bubblegum Crisis. Just wait a little while
until the premiere of this all-new original story full of future hard
action!"

From pretty much everywhere the book is available:

"2030's -- the mysterious evolved megalocity Tokyo. Priss Asagiri, a
budding high-school rock artist, happens upon a runaway Boomer
lifeform by chance, is scouted by millionaire daughter Sylia
Sakakibara, who wishes her to fight alongside her. On the condition
that she assist with her band debut, Nene Rokuhara and high-school
maid Linna Yamazaki, who attend the same school, they start battle on
the other side of school life as the superior powered fighters, the
Knight Sabers. A newly written work based on the masterpiece anime
series, raising the curtain on the raging billows."

I was informed of the existence of this book by a former C3F member. He wrote a blog post about it here: http://madarameharunobu.wordpress.com/2013/05/13/ugh-wtf-an-early-wake-up-call-from-japan-_/

Thanks.

That actually sounds like it might potentially be interesting, at least as a one-shot.

Given the paucity of information on plot that I could find with my own google - fu, I think it's fair to say it might not have been much of a success on release.

I will say this.

Carbon fibre trim looks good on a hardsuit. Character art lacks distinction. It might just be the school uniforms doing that.

Well, the most recent piece of Bubblegum Crisis merchandise I have has an AIC sticker on the box. They're still around. There's no reason to think they wouldn't have to give it their assent if it's using the Bubblegum Crisis brand.

Let me try to resurrect this thread in honor of Nene's birthdate. I just realized that the Hard Metal Guardians novel is available from Amazon resellers:

http://www.amazon.com/Bubblegum-Crisis-carbide-guardian-Noberuzu/dp/4022739908/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1409537065&sr=1-8&keywords=bubblegum+crisis

If there isn't anybody else willing to buy it and scan it, I could do it. Is there anyone out here interested in translating it? Meanwhile, I don't know if this was there when the original link was posted last year, but Amazon Japan's entry for the novel has 6 pages of text available on Look Inside:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/バブルガムクライシス-超鋼守護天使-朝日ノベルズ-志真-元/dp/4022739908/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=1-2&keywords=バブルガムクライシス

Thanks for resurrecting this, I had no idea about this, I cant translate from japanese however I could do the editing once someone had translated from japanese of course, I know editing is not a very rare skill these days but I would do what I can, also I have edited another manga before.

Forgot to add that I would buy and scan it but right now Im not able to do that, however if someone gets it and manages to scan Im sure we would have the full work done in really short time so I encourage to anyone willing to collaborate in any way to say so.

Wow, I was expecting it to be more than 10 bucks used. I might get it sometime just to have in my collection.
