what can we do about these spammers?

Any ideas? I check this group regularly and see that the spammers are
replaceing the posters.
It's sorta sad.

1: Filter; a lot of spam contains phrases in the subject that wouldn't be in
a legitimate post
2: Complain; most of the spam in this group has the address to complain to
in the header, just forward the whole message with all the headers, minus
any attachments, to the address in the Complaints To: line, usually
abuse@spammer's isp.com. The from address is nearly always forged, but if
it's spa...@hotmail.com it's definitely forged, and you should send the
spam to ab...@hotmail.com as well, because they actively prosecute anybody
who pretends to be a hotmail user for spamming purposes.

It's up to all decent folk to take a few minutes every day to report spam.

You could use a moderated newsgroup (alt.binaries.moderated.pinup-art)
(alt.binaries.moderated)

or you could join the MyNews network - and KILL all the spammers
by cancelling their articles. On MYNews the users can cancel themselves.
