A few weeks ago someone posted a message in this NG about calling Arista records and inquiring about Barry's contract etc:

 

"Phone arista Barry has agree to do a last single CD and album CD he has to finish.  The single is with +44 feat Tom Campbell and a song called 'A Heart Pumps More Than Blood' or the heart pumping song.  Phil Ramone is to produce with Mark Taylor phone them and ask if you don't mind.  It may be rumour that the Backstreet Boys are doing the Chorus' but there is an element of
truth in this as they have stated on national TV that they want to do something for Tom Campbell AND Barry Manilow (who they greatly respect!)"

 

I went to the website and emaied mr Campbell directly:

 

Dear Tom,

 

I am a big Barry Manilow fan and I`ve just learned that he`s including a song of yours on his upcoming Arista release.

 

And this was his reply:

Thanx for your enquiry.  There is no firm agreement for Manilow to do the 'heart pumping' song.  It has been sent to Manilow for approval.  Still awaiting the outcome.  Other parties are interested in this song too, so he will have to make up his mind soon.  It is the only song I have ever written that I want someone else to perform.  I just want to sit back and enjoy someone else's interpretation.  I believe that Barry can do this particular song well.  It requires a production similar to Dido's who is also at Arista Records.  Top people in the Music Industry have said they think it's a "great" song.  Well time will only tell.

So I think there are basically three things we can infer now:

 

1- Barry's'probably staying with Arista

2- He's probably in the midst of putting a pop album together

3- It's probably not an album of self-penned songs (Like the Mayflower).
