Cameras Taken From Fans Tonight and Rumors of Trouble at Yesterday's Show

Seems that cameras were confiscated at tonight's show and yesterday rumors abound about fans thrown out and arrested at yesterday's show. Anybody from here at these shows can confirm?

Boil, boil, toil and trouble. At a Manilow show no less.

If true, saddened and sickened to read this, and I am so sorry that Barry and all the team had to endure such behaviour. I really do wish alcohol was banned from shows'

Friend who was there said the rule was if it fit in your pocket you could bring it in. Odd rule, especially in an arena where the only hope of getting decent pix from a distance is with a really good camera. But, that was the deal.

Ever since I can remember, the rule has always been no cameras with detachable lenses. There are many, many digital cameras with zoom lenses that take great pictures and are small enough to fit in a pocket. The trick is to know enough to have the camera set the correct way to get the best picture possible.

I'm GLAD they are cracking down on those who think the rules don't apply to them. And lets not get started on the drunks who can't control themselves...I feel they shouldn't even be allowed into the show if they show any signs of being under the influence. JW

I just think after all the times it was Barry who said it's okay to take pictures and now after how many years of saying it's okay, suddenly it's not, I mean WTF.

Bad behavior has always been at Barry's shows and nothing was ever done. I'm not saying it's alright at all .... but what made these events so different from the others? Taking 40 years to suddenly crack the whip?

I'm skeptical in regards to these actions. Something just doesn't fit right.

I can see why you say what you do Beanz, but whether it be 40 years or 40 seconds to take action, does not matter a jot IMO. Bad behaviour such as has 'allegedly' occurred rightly should not be tolerated, maybe Barry and Team have been too tolerant in the past, I suspect there was a particular straw that broke the camel's back. I applaud the action I really do, and I think it sends a clear message.

My own experience of obnoxious drunken behaviour last year, was not by fans but what you call civilians, I was in the arena on my own next to them, all blokes, and it was scary for me, thankfully I got moved forward.

I say again, ban the booze, appreciate venues make revenue for alchohol sales, but it can be done, e.g. over here smoking ban, in no public place can you smoke, it is illegal to do so.

Someone on MMN said that underwear was thrown onto the stage and Barry asked if they wanted it sent to the laundry, or something along those lines! Sounds as if the crowds are a bit wild wherever he is at the moment.

Seems Barry has taken a liking to serenading men now too. Boy oh Boy! Another WTF moment for me. I wonder if this is going to be a replacement for the "Can't Smile Without You" gals?

I'm really wondering if the Manilow Camp like only the $$$ women bring to the table? This whole weekend leaves a bad taste.

All I've read on here is that there were some idiots drinking too much at a Manilow concert in an arena. Nothing new. You get crap like that going at practically anybody's arena gig nowadays (except maybe Joel Osteen's).

I've seen the camera policy change a few times over the years...nothing new in all that.

And can you please explain how Barry "serenaded" a guy? I haven't read anything about that and would love more details ... Sounds interesting if he did. One of the most memorable shows I ever attended was in Chicago when he sang "Can't Smile" with a guy.

Sharon said she had friends report in that the show was great.

So... If he was healthy and singing (As opposed to the wobbly man I saw in Ft Wayne last month), what on earth was there to leave a "bad taste"?

I'm not debating your right to feel that way ... I'm just not connecting the dots the way you are, based on what I've read here. What are you seeing that I'm missing?

Barry gave an interview with Richard Giacovas before the concert. As part of the interview at the piano Barry played and sang bits of a couple of songs. Hardly a ‘serenade’ and there was no audience. Giacovas later posted on his facebook page that Barry 'sang to him.'

I saw another post from Rita who was there. She said six people came in
already drunk. Four left without any trouble. Two made a scene so that's
why they were arrested by the police. I did not see in my group or any of
the others groups that I belong to on facebook that Barry was serenading
guys. In the past Barry has been interviewed by male reporters and sung
some of his songs these reporters want to hear. So that's nothing new.

Richard Giacovas is an intern at NBC New York. Someday Richard would like
to be a news anchor or reporter in New York. Richard thanked Barry on his
Twitter page for allowing him to interview him. There is a photo on Richard's
Twitter page of him standing next to Barry.

Strongly dislike drunken idiots ruining a show for those seated around
them -- especially with ticket prices as they are.

Now, the show in CO should be interesting -- now that obtaining a
Rocky Mountain High is legal. The weed crowd would be mellower than
disruptive / obnoxious drunken crowd, plus the venue would sell more
munchies. :-)
