Should Barry have an understudy to perform when he can't perform?

Given that there will be fans who traveled to NYC to see Barry perform and will be disappointed that tonight's show will be cancelled, it made me wonder if Barry's management can substitute another performer to fill in for him while he recovers (as people in show biz always say "the show must go on")
When this happens to an actor in a musical or play, there is an understudy to substitute for the actor in the show. Shouldn't fans be offered the choice of a refund or a substitute for Barry in the show that will make some fan happy that can't change the date of the tickets he/she bought.
I am sure the backup singers and musicians can probably do a very good "Tribute To Barry Manilow" show for the fans at a reduced price. The backups usually sing along with Barry in most of the songs, the musicians already know the charts and notes for the songs, so why not just feature each of the backups in selected songs for the show?
I will not insult your intelligence by stating that anyone can really substitute for the real Barry, but to me a tribute to Barry show is a better alternative than no show at all.
I know Donna Maxon and Fonda Feingold, who live in NYC, as "Bette and Barry At The Bath House" would also be a great alternative to no Barry show if he can't perform on a given night.
I always think there should be a plan by Barry to have another plan, aside from cancellation, when he can't perform. The show must always go on, even if Barry can't.
What are your thoughts? Marvin

NO WAY - NO HOW! I pay to see someone in particular. If something comes up, I'll take the refund so I can spend that money doing something else, especially in NYC which is a huge tourist mecca. There is so much to do and see so I would make the most of it while there. I don't think most of us would be happy seeing a 'stand-in'. We want the real deal! :) If we wanted to see something else, we'd buy tickets to that.

Never thought about it that way, Marvin! One thing to substitute an actor in one role in a play, or a singer among a chorus or group, but not one individual main performer surely? Not for me anyway. I'd rather miss out completely than have a stand-in, unless they run a stand-in performance but still give a good refund on the ticket price, especially at the high price end of the tickets.

You must be joking. If Barry was in a theatrical production
on Broadway then I could see an under study. But Barry is not
in a play or musical.

My thoughts? A big fat 'no way'. It's a concert, not a play.

Back when there was talk of Barry leaving the Paris LV Resort, I mentioned to someone that perhaps Barry's shows could run in a place where Harmony could also be performed, to keep the theater running when Barry isn't performing. That would be a better alternative, IMHO.

Hell-to-the-NO!!. . . What is a Barry Manilow concert without BARRY
MANILOW? It's like going for an operation on your left leg and the
doctor doing it on your right arm.

No one can replace Barry. Absolutely NO ONE.

The crowd at the St. James Theater (if any one of those performers
filled in for Barry) ;)
