Face Painting Designs

On several occasions, at fairs, I've had the opportunity to watch face
painters at work, painting smaller designs on faces. (Not full face
but smaller designs, dragons, unicorns, sun, moon, etc).

Although even with different artists, doing the painting in different
geographical locations, there seems to be consistency in lines,
styles, colors and patterns, This makes me think that perhaps these
styles are an actual art form, rather then just the musing of some
very creative and artistic entrepeneurs.

My question is, " Are there books, printed materials, paintings that
show this beautiful art ???? " Has any artist actually published
collections that demonstrate this art form ????? Do these painters
have conventions where one could go to view this art ????
