ESPN REPORTEDLY LAYING OFF HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYEES

http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2013/may/espn-reportedly-laying-off-hundreds-of-employees.html

These are headlines you never want to see in any industry. Today, out
of nowhere, ESPN laid off hundreds of employees. The troublesome
signs first appeared on the Twitter page of bestselling author and
ESPN authority Jim Miller.

The details are grisly. Miller also pegged the number of layoffs
between 300 and 400 employees. Deadspin's John Koblin was told a
similar number by sources. Eventually, ESPN would confirm the news in
a public statement on the matter that "tried" to put a "positive" spin
on the news:

I guess that explains why ESPN Radio recently started running the one
hour weekly show The Sporting Life about 57 times a week. At other
times, they just carry the audio from Sportscenter. Nothing says
riveting radio like listening to verbal host schtick about unseen
plays.

Almost as riveting as television showing somebody doing a radio
broadcast.

Unless, of course, it was Phil Hartman coverned head to toe in
nicotine patches.
