I have an army buddy who is an explosives expert. He does his magic
from his shop and day by day he gets better and better. Have you ever
heard 10 milligrams of lead azide detonate? Scary.
I saw him use home made exploding bidge wire detonators in some of his
explosive devices. Wikipedia has an article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding-bridgewire_detonator#Use_in_nuclear_weapons
where it says, "Due to their common use in nuclear weapons, these
devices are subject to the Nuclear Control Authorities in every state,
according to the Guidelines for the Export of Nuclear Material,
Equipment and Technology. In the US, EBWs are on the US State
Department Munitions Control List, and exports are highly regulated."
I was curious if there might be some legal beagles in this forum.
Given what is said above, are we violating some kind of international
law? Can he get into any kind of trouble?
Second question: where is a good place to scrounge up some tritium?
Just curious.
What's this "we" shit, white man? :-)
Seriously, our treaty obligations require us not to export bridgewires
or slappers to any country which is on the international bad guy list
of people who lust after nuclear weapons or who might sell them to the
bad guys. Our internal controls on who gets these detonators (BATFE
regulations) are also proof of our compliance with our treaty
obligations.
There's a LONG list of countries who are (or should be) ahead of us in
line to be prosecuted under international law for proliferating
nuclear weapons-usable technology - and not just for bridgewire or
slapper detonators.

They use it for lighting the sights on the better combat pistols.
