Thanks to a SMERSH operative I am friendly with, a mystery has been solved!
For years I wondered about "Ish Kabibble" which I think is Yiddish. On
Googling I discovered the term to mean "don't worry about it", but the
SMERSH agent was able to provide the etymological route via a Boris
Karloff/Kay Kyser movie!

No names, no pack drill but thanks, Comrade! :-D

I've only come across Ishkabibble as the everyday name of the
International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of
Biology (officially abbreviated to ISHPSSB).

However, the page at
http://ishpssb.wordpress.com/ishpssb/origins-of-ishkabibble/ seems to
agree that it probably comes from Yiddish Isch Gabibble (I Should
Worry).

Older Americans remember the name Ish Kabibble because it was such a
funny name. Some are old enough to associate it with the Kay Kyser
radio show, but I wonder how many know that Ish was a member of
Kyser's band and a cornet player. Ish Kabibble wasn't his real name,
though. It was Merwyn Bogue.

I had to look up his real name, but do remember the Kay Keyser Kollege
of Musical Knowledge show on television. We didn't have a television
when the show was on, but a neighbor did. I didn't care for the show,
but watching anything on television was exciting at the time.

Excellent, Florida Tony and the Kollege was in this movie with Karloff,
Peter Lorre and Bela Lugosi and it wasn't bad - probably Kyser's finest
picture and Kabibble was quite amusing!

I too am old enough to remember Ish Kabibble (which until now I
thought was one word), but from radio, not television.

He was on both. Radio from 1939 to 1949. I didn't listen to the
radio show. Kyser was on television briefly in 1949/1950, but it was
in 1956 that he started with NBC. Ish was in Kyser's show on both
radio and television.
