Hello

I wonder if "bizarre" could be referred to "erotic dance"? actually I
am not sure, I just heard (maybe misheard) conversations in a movie
that one asks "what do you do?", the other said "I am a dancer". Then,
"Ballet?", "No, bizarre".

Kevin in Hong Kong (a Chinese)

You might confuse "belly dancer" with "ballet dancer" (not if you
actually saw them dancing, of course), but I don't know about "bizarre".

"Bizarre" means "strange", "weird", "odd", "outlandish" etc. However,
other than being associated with those normal meanings, I have no idea
what a "bizarre dance" is. Do a Google on "bizarre dancer", and have a
look at the YouTube videos!

Could it have been "burlesque"? That does mean "erotic dancer" in
some places (although it means other things as well).

Ian - I am sure I could tell belly and ballet. :)))
about bizarre dancer, it's simply my guess.
I heard it and could not rewind it because I was not watching a DCD,
but a movie on local TV channel.

David. Many thanks. I will keep in mind this word.
I am not sure, but it is highly probable, since the word and its sound
fit well.

BTW, about the movie, it's "independent day", aliens came to the
earth. The woman who saved the first lady was asked what does she do?
she said she is a dancer.

The transcript of the script on this page says "erotic".

So, what do yo do for a living?

JASMINE
I'm a dancer.

MARGARET
Really? Ballet?

JASMINE
(laughs)
No. Exotic.

I've never seen "bizarre" used as a synonym for "erotic"; although
depending on the context of the overall conversation, it might be a
considered a euphemism for erotic.

Are there bazaar dancers? As in, someone who dances to attract people
to a particular market related event with a fair /fairground
atmosphere.

I would think that a "bazaar dancer" might be a "belly dancer" - all
very "exotic"!

I've not heard it either, but it wouldn't surprise me, in much the same
way as dealers in old books refer in their catalogues to "curious
plates", meaning "obscene pictures".

I have a 17-year old neighbor who wants to be a bizarre bazaar belly
ballet erotic exotic dancer. What should I tell her?

Dunno.... But will she be able to drive the audience ecstatic?

That's she's under age and you're going to report her to her

She wants to be that in the future. I think she wants to go to
