Maybe Dumb Question But: Isn't Geothermal Obviously Worthwhile Yet Being Mostly Ignored?

I argued for energy from Sun, collected in solar orbit. But that's way
off, Earth-energy should be able to give us much of what we need much
sooner. right?

It's used on a small scale in souther Oregon. It's common for
homes to be heated with geothermal. To do it, you drill a 250
ft well, drop two pipes into the well that are joined at the
ends, so that you have a big "U". Then pump water through that.
A heat exchanger gives you hot air for space heating. And a heat
exchanger gives you DHW.

The greenies are opposed to anything that might actually work economically. All they want is to make people miserable with high taxes.

Better scratch wind off that list. Many wind turbines have been held
up due to noise concerns. There have also been complaints that they
don't look nice.
