Did Elvis ever record "O Holy Night"

I don't think he did but someone is betting me he did.

I didn't see it on "Christmas Peace" which I thought has every
Christmas song Elvis recorded

I think it answers the question that Elvis did not record O Holy Night.
As you can see, it says Performed by: The Jordanaires, not Elvis.

You dope, that was recorded by the Jordanaires after Elvis' death, for a
tribute album. I believe it was recorded in 78 or 79.

That should answer the question. It was performed by the Jordanaires, not
Elvis. I'm not being argumentative, just pointing out something you
overlooked.

That was the Jordanaires only from a tribute album recorded in 78 or 79, dope.

Your so right Dawn. I have caught myself trying to sing that song, (I can't
sing) and I imagine that Elvis is singing it. After you do that for years, you
start to wonder if your wishing it or hearing it...lol I doubt apologies will

While you're rolling on the floor busting what may be a considerable gut, maybe
someone can throw you a doggy treat.
In two hundred and ten dog years, that'd be thirty for most folks, you'd half
expect a big mouth internet finger wagging kook to have some idea what songs
comprised twenty or so Xmas recordings.
Some may find that 'ROTFLMAO' material, O Keeper Of The Elvis Memory.
Dumb mutt.

Speaking of Chow Mein, the last few times I have been in NY I have had no
luck finding a place that made Chow Mein the way they did when I grew up in

They used to make it with just Bok Choy and the small hard, crisp, chow mein
noodles. Now they put carrots, peas and long Lo Mein like noodles.

Chris, do you know of any place?

Actually, Elvis never recorded the song in the studio. Never sang it
live in concert, and no home recordings exist of the song. The track you
mention is Jimmy "Orion" Ellis performing the song with the Jordanaires.

Yes, this is so funny.. It reminds me of an old story that goes
something like... uh.. hmmm. I don't think it's a story. what is it

Do ya'll remember when I got someones sick-ass version of Elvis singing

I was on my pc and I picked it up from KaZaa. When I wrote in the aek

really a terrible one, but I thought it was Elvis. I know I am a TRUE

I know exactly what you're talking about.
What we remember has changed all over the place.
I was listening to an interview with Red Auerbach (Boston Celtics) the other
day and he spoke about having a weekly lunch at a place that isn't particularly
good, but he eats there because they still make Chow Mein and they make it the
old fashioned way.
I think that even when you find a joint that still knows how to make Chow Mein,
chances are you won't see those thin, crispy noodles that make it all come
together, BUT, next time you're here- check out Wo Hop at 17 Mott
St.(Downstairs).
If they don't do it like you remember, they take requests, so you don't have to
deal with peas and carrots in your Chow Mein.
My favorite kind of CM was a Coney Island treat- a Chow Mein sandwich at
Nathan's- in all it's fanciness it was CM and crispy noodles on a hamburger
bun.
Good healthy fun.
I don't know if you eat this, but another thing that sucks now is Shrimp &
Lobster Sauce. More often than not, it's swimming in a bad, watery soup instead
of that nice thickish, stick-to-your-ribs consistancy.
Same for Egg Foo Young gravy- thin and tasteless gravies everywhere.

Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open and drop a note if I get anything solid.

Charmaine,
What is the big deal if someone is an Elvis fan for 10 years or 50
years? As long as the person is an Elvis fan is all that should matter. My
son is 15 years old and is a huge Elvis fan. Your explanation of a fan
needs some changes. So what if Dawn became a fan after Elvis' passing, what
does it matter? She is nonetheless a fan, and a much nicer woman than you
will ever be.....even in 50 years!

FYI - Elvis NEVER recorded O Holy Night, never! You must be listening to
Orion.....any fan would know that.
--
tcbtom
Before Elvis......there was nobody!
After Elvis......there is still nobody!
.....so let it be said, so let it be written!

rarity in your hands as it is listed nowhere as being recorded by Elvis.(doesnt
mean it wasnt) just means that it hasnt been found or discovered yet so happy

I got a "Whole Mess Of The Blues..." lol
Lots of great memories.
I think a discription of a TRUE ELVIS FAN
Is not so much what they have saved or bought of his. How many recordings,
etc...How many trips to concerts or Graceland...
I think it is located only in the heart. You can be 90 or 9 and if the Love is
there, then I think it's fair to be called an Elvis fan..a true elvis fan.

The altar would be saved for the High Priestess of Fandom. The
ordinary True Fans just worship there during prayer meetings, it isn't
necessary to own your own.

Obligatory items would include at least one Elvis painting, preferably
displayed in the main room of the house so that visitors can say "Oh.
You're an Elvis fan then? That's an.....'interesting' painting.
Unusual, the way he's walking up those stairs to...it is heaven isn't
it? Oh, and he's got wings. Actually, I just remembered that I was
supposed to be somewhere else tonight".

Decanters would be a great help too, as would those 'lifelike'
figurines based on different periods of his life ('Gold Suit Elvis',
'68 Comeback Elvis' and 'Aloha Elvis'). A complete set of movies on
video is a must, along with an almost complete set of movies on DVD,
some stained with tears from the knowledge that all the money spent on
videos will soon be wasted when video recorders become obsolete. Ditto
for vinyl/CDs. All to be displayed next to the letter from the loan
company threatening to repossess the house unless payments are met
forthwith, and the credit card receipt from Graceland for the
authentic and authorised Elvis Halloween Costume.

I must have left something out.

You just brought back a ton of memories with the sandwich. In my old
neighborhood of Hunts Point and Southern Blvd. there used to be a
Woolworth's five and dime store that sold them for ten cents. Used to get
them all the time. They tasted better than some of the crap you get in
Chinese restaurants today.

The first time I ate at Shun Lee Palace and I asked for Chow Mein and they
looked at me like I was nuts. I had to explain to them how it was made and
when it came to the crisp noodles she said, "We no have!"

Thanks,

Three strands of Elvis' hair that are half rotting in a glass case with a

Esposito that they sold for $50,000. The hair actually came from Grob's
beard.

I believe chow mein is more of a dish that was made for Americans,
additionally, a lot of these restaurants aren't even Chinese, but Vietnamese or
other.

I know. Shun Lee is supposed to be a high classed Chinese restaurant in
Manhattan. I guess Chow Mein was beneath them.

How about Franklin Mint plates?

And Standees.
Are 2 enough? Or do you need one from each era?
Is it necessary to display them all the time, or only during Elvis week and
his brthday?

We need to be correct on this.

That reminded me of the time when I was in third grade and this asshole
schoolmate sold me three blades of grass for $1 and said it was from Graceland.
Well, I heard him laughing with his friends saying he picked it out of his
yard, sooooo a few days later, I told him I had pieces of Elvis' hair from
where he had gotten his hair cut when in concert here. Soooooo I took my Cher
barbie, cut off some of her hair, put it on top of pink tissue in a nice box
and sold it to him for $2. LOL

It was done by Orion for Sun Records in 1980 and released in 1981. Later it was
included on the CD Christmas to Elvis from The Jordinaires.

You hit it and that's exactly part of the problem.
Alot of the Chinese restaurants in your neck of the woods aren't owned or run
by Chinese folks at all. I know, I know...to us gringos, they all look alike.
The Chinese have stepped up the economic ladder and have found better ways to
turn a buck and the newer immigrant Vietnamese, Malaysians- even Koreans have
taken the helm of the mom-and-pop Chinese joint, of course knowing that gringos
can't tell the difference anyway, but the food has changed.
Like Chow Mein, that ancient Chinese recipe that the Chinese discovered here in
America.
That taste was a one or two generation thing. It's gone.

Hmmmm, that's a major credibility knock, thinking Orion is Elvis. I bet
Charmain's detractors think they've had an extra Christmas prezzie!

Why should it? We already have established she's a kooky idiot. Besides, the
song she listed wasn't wth that assclown, it was the Jord's alone. I had a
friend that bought it on vinyl the year it was released, thinking it was an
Elvis Christmas album.

Well, it's not all that, but she's a pretty big dope with a pretty big mouth
and it's fun to see how much she doesn't know.
She comes in with zero credibility as far as this fan's concerned.
Everyone knows Elvis was dreamy, but 'REAL FANS' know the fundamental
difference between that one of a kind voice and a thinnish imitation that may
fool a casual listener for a minute or two at most.
Thinking Orion is Elvis- no wonder she and Allen get on so well.

No, Franklin Mint are now the official Dead English Princess company,
rather than the official Dead American Rock'n'Roll Singer people. And
an excellent job they are doing, as well.

The number of standees that a True Elvis Fan owns, should be in direct
inverse proportion to the number of friends they have. The less
friends, the more standees. It is in fact possible for a True Elvis
Fan to go through life without ever speaking to a real human being,
other than the man at the Post Office who cashes his/her social
security cheque.

Display? What is 'display'? You're talking about them like they're
just pieces of cardboard or something...

They have talking, motion activated Elvis standees now. I've dubbed
"I'll tear your tongue out by the roots" into one of them. I put him
out by the mailbox on the days when I'm expecting bills.

I have a conceited uncle who thinks he is the only one in the world who
knows that he wears a wig. I fixed one Elvis standee up for him last
Christmas. He walked in with that big clump of drain hair dangling from
his head and stopped to admire my Elvis standee. Right in front of the
whole left side of my family tree, Elvis said, "You bald mother
fucker".... in my voice. I had thought about dubbing Elvis' "Do you gaze
at your bald head, and wish you had hair", but I thought he needed
something more hair raising than that.

Elvis fans might have a plate or two, but REAL fans eat from those
plates. Do you know what a steaming hot meal can do to "Plate Elvis"?
The only thing you'll find on that plate after you finish your meal is a
message saying, "Elvis All Gone".

The Jordinaires may have done it but none of them sound like Elvis.
Orion did do it and his version is included on later releases.
