It was scheduled for Monday at 8PM,EST on CBS and I was waiting with
excitement for "Elvis In Concert."
I'd seen the TV commercials and the ads in TV Guide. The TV ads showed
him singing "Jailhouse Rock." BTW, I collect TV Guides and I still have
that copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show with my family. We watched it on a
25" Sears console color TV. I recall the next day at work, people were
talking about it.
When the soundtrack LP was released, I bought it and thought it
was great, too.
I also recall when CBS re-ran the show on Sunday, May 7th at 8PM.
I went out the next day and bought my first VCR. I think more than
anything else, the special inspired me to get one as I realized how neat
it would have been to have a videotape copy. I only wish I'd bought it
one day sooner.
