There was a great discussion on this new group on rec.arts.drwho
and a need was established

This group is to be created to reserve a place on the net for original
fiction based on characters and Ideas raised in the Television programme
Doctor Who and its many spinoffs into other media.

This is to include fiction of all kinds (including satire and spoofs) and
the newsgroup will be unmorderated. All trivia and speculation should
keep being posted to rec.arts.drwho.

Question: When is this newsgroup being created and by whom.

Right, the story so far.

I suggested the newsgroup.

Dave Williams set it up.

It *does* exist, but it has limited circulation at the moment.

People are posting to it (so I've heard, our site still hasn't seen it)
already, so it looks set to be a strongly supported group. From the looks of
things it's got about half way around the various systems.

It'll take time, but it should get to you eventually.

Purpose of the group:

alt.drwho.creative has been created in order to secure a place on
the altnet for original fiction written by fans of the Doctor Who
television science fiction series, including but not restricted
to stories, parodies, and technology in the series.

Any discussion/posts on topics related to Doctor Who, but not
connected with fiction appearing in this group should be directed
to rec.arts.drwho

A full charter for the group is in the works, and will hopefully
be available shortly.

This group was created following the posting of an idea by
"Happy Halibut I" (ri...@cogs.susx.ac.uk), who should receive
full credit for an excellent idea.

Disclaimer: The creation of this newsgroup is in no way an action
of my employers (ICL Mid-Range Systems Division),
nor is the posting of the newgroup from an ICL site
an indication of their support or approval.

It was created a short while ago - those sites that take it will, those
that won't, won't - it's floating around out there and postings have
tended to come from American sites for the most part.

If your news admin isn't running on auto-pilot (i.e. automatically
honouring newgroups) then it's entirely possible that you'll need
to ask them to carry it. Besides, I made a cock-up initially in
creating it, which was hopefully corrected later.

It does exist though..
