LEDs suck

After a year of using LED lights, I can say they fall far short of the hype the growshops ascribe to them. The don't have the right spectrum, and the electronics don't have much life, at least not the ones I bought. I had to supplement with HPS to get anything to grow, so don't waste your money. How does one increase bud growth

A friend showed me a pic of her outdoor (potted)plant that was budding. The top set is about 6 inches long and the buds are still somewhat loose. Then there are the node buds which are an inch to two inches in size, and not very compact. What would she do at this point to increase bud growth/compactness ?
