Subject: How Does One Extract Hydrocodone from Tussionex?
My brain doesn't like the chlorpheniramine in "Tussionex Pennkinetic
Susp MPI". Does anyone know how to extract the hydrocodone from the
syrup or at least extract the chlorpheniramine?

I have 180 ml of the syrup.  At 10 mg/5ml that's 360 mg of hydrocodone.
I'd hate to chuck it just because I can't tolerate the bloody
antihistamine.

Will the cold water extraction method work when the good stuff and the
bad stuff are bound up with the polymer which gives it its extended
release quality?

Any help appreciated.

No the cold water extraction will be of no use here.

a valid way to do it.

I'm sure if you where a pro chemist and acess to a high quality lab you
MIGHT have sucess.....but at home in your kitchen, well i'm sorry to say
that
as far as I have seen it ain't looking good.

sorry to be the bringer of unhappy news.

How about a bisulfite addition complex? As long as the other stuff in
the mixture has no ketones, the hydrocodone with seperate out as a
solid...

choloroform or either will extract codeine freebase; but syrup is not
good as I'm not sure what the sugar will do;   I would suggest using a
cold water extract to get as little sugar in the extracted coideine in
cold water; base with NaOH to PH=13 then use chloroform (I prefer
ether) to extract;   yo can then gas back to cod hcl or just smoke the
base.
I would try and see if sugar is soluable in ether/cloro;  if not you
are set; just dilute  and base the syrup and extract; I dont think the
NO solvent will old much suygar and will hold LOTS of opiate base.

Just look up a ketone/bisulfite complex on wikipedia. It's ever so
simple and has been used a million times. You cannot screw it up and
you get very pure product. I would recommend you base it with sodium
carbonate because frebase hydrocodone vapourises and smokes WELL. It't
still a prodrug so don't expect a flash, but it works in just a couple
of minutes...
