I'm driving to town on the main highway in. On the shoulder of the road, walking the other way, I see two people wearing hooded windbreaker jackets. I realize that the couple are Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne (sp?).
I drive on, but begin to think to myself, "This is his last day in office. The neighborly thing to do is to turn around and give them a lift back to their home, not leave them to walk like that."
I turn my car around and drive back up the road, but the Cheneys aren't there. I drive a bit, then decide that someone else must have stopped and given them a ride, so I turn around and head back the way I was going in the first place.
=END OF DREAM=
Notes: No real ideas about this one. I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about Vice President Cheney. They certainly don't live in my neighborhood! <G> Why the windbreaker jackets? Why did I think of it being just Cheney's last day in office, and not the last day of Bush's term as well? Was I thinking somehow Cheney won't remain in office until 2009? I seemed -- and this is vague -- to be thinking he was actually the Secretary of Defense, rather than VP, but I couldn't remember Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's name for a while even after I woke, so perhaps I was substituting Cheney for Rumsfeld, and it's actually the Secretary of Defense who I dreamt will be leaving office.

1989 MARCH: Cheney becomes Secretary of Defense when President George H.W. Bush’s first choice, John Tower, is rejected by the Senate for personal misconduct.

Hmm... interesting -- I had forgotten Cheney *had* been SecDef under Bush. It looks like my dream was about a week shy of the 16th anniversary of Cheney being nominated for that post, though I dreamt he was leaving office, not entering it.
