_ [Admin] Suggestion to be able to "Like" threads

[Admin] I've realized that it would be really nice to get some
feedback, and to know if people read and like the stories here.

For example, when Storytelr posted [Wedding] Coming to the alter 2, I
thought it was really cool that her characters got married. I wanted
to post something about that, but it goes against the rules here at
alt.dragons-inn to post in someone else's thread, unless they've
marked it [Open].

An opposite example is Facebook, where when someone posts something,
anyone on their friends list can reply to it. Or they can simply mark
that they "Like" it.

So I suggest we update the rules here a bit. I suggest that anyone
can post a reply to a thread that they like, but not to participate in
closed threads, but simply to comment that they like them, and to be
specific as to what they like. So for example, I would like to post
this to [Wedding] Coming to the alter 2:

[Like] Robert thinks it's really cool that Cathy's characters have
gotten together!

I know I would like to get feedback and questions from readers.
Storytelr and ShadoWolf, since were the only ones posting right now,
what do you guys think about this idea?

Maybe you could put a "I would like feedback" comment at the start of
a thread or a post.

And really the "no additions" rule to closed threads don't apply to
things like "I like what happened or such." It is basically to
indicate that new characters can't just be added in without contacting
the writer, and getting permission.

What I might suggest is if you want comments you might want to say
something along the line, "I would like feedback, please contact
author." The reason I say that is that some writers might want
feedback, and some might not be ready for it. Alt.dragons-inn has more
been a "safe place" to write in that the authors can try their hand at
writing without critique or criticism. Good critiquing is an art form
with critiquing being balanced by suggestions for improvement, and
with the understanding that another's suggestions might not fit the
author's vision.

Right now we have writers that are well beyond the new writer's
nervousness, but contacting the author with commentary probably still
would be wise since the commentary on the list would mean the readers
may have to dig through it to the story. A lot depends on how a
person's particular newsreader works. I'm on Google groups and it adds
into the post any replies.
