Hi there.

This is me trying to see if anyone is even checking in on The Dragons
Inn anymore.

No matter who you are, no matter if you've ever posted here before, if
you are reading this, please reply.

Progress!

I had two people reply directly to me, and within a day. So even
though they aren't posted here, there IS life out there in Ifreann.

Excellent, and a nice encouragement.

Hi! I still exist, and promise to start writing this weekend.

Dragon's Inn has been on my mind lately, I'd like to get back into
it. Hopefully my creative juices haven't dried up. I haven't decided
what to do yet, so if anyone has an idea I'd love to hear it.

My characters, Garan and Finast, each have an obsession which will
lead them to quest. They're on the way to Montfort for help,
especially at the College, but also to look for help from anyone else
they can find.

I'm envisioning both of their quests having several sections where
they'll leave Montfort in search of the next item or person or bit of
knowledge along the way.

As far as writing help, they'll need people to go with them, and I
could use help writing opposition and adversaries. It would be really
cool if I could recruit a different writer to write the opposition for
each leg of the quest. For example, if they need to convince a Big
Boss to give them a certain clue or item, then having someone write
that villian and his henchmen would be completely cool.

So that's my main idea right now. I'm going to keep pressing on with
it no matter what. I've had Finast and Garan as pen and paper
roleplaying characters since I was a teenager, and it's high time I
gave them the rest of their story. It may or may not have a happy
ending. Mwah hah hah hah. <grin>

I'd also like to do something more simple that, to keep things rolling
at the inn, and open and easy for anyone to join. I'm tossing around
ideas like a mercenary group doing security, a mixed-martial-arts-and-
all-types-of-combat arena, or something like that.

Quest obsession? Maybe, I have a couple characters that require almost
no convincing to hit the road, some that do out of necessity, others
out of duty.

I never took part of the [College] thread, but I could if that would
be best. I like the idea of adding a character or two to your group
and I love your idea of writing the opposition, at least some of it.
That could be interesting, and challenging. Is this for your
[Unlikely Twins]?

I was planning this very same thing a couple years ago, I named it the
"Roving Melee". I drafted detailed plans but never kicked it off
because of my topsy-turvy RL, and I feared that in may be too tough to
manage.

Let me know how I can help.

John, aka ShadoWolf, and a bunch of other things.

Hi back, Boyd.

ShadoWolf, yes, recruiting people to run some adversaries would be
part of [Unlikely Twins]. I'll make a seperate thread for future
planning. It'd be great to have your help!

[Admin] Well, it's been a month now since I posted this thread
inviting people back to the Dragons Inn, and I've got three people
back so far (including myself). I am loving it! Going online and
finding ShadoWolf and Stroytlr posts in [Thief] is extremely cool.
It's just as good as I remember.

Thanks you two, and here's another invite for the lurkers out there.
Stop by the Inn, just for a drink. Vintner'll provide a little
entertainment. Even if there's no time for anything else, I'm betting
you have time to stop by for an ale and a spicy dragon pod!

Ah yeah!

[following up to the earliest article my server has in this thread]

Just learned of this group's existence (from the rec.games.frp.dnd FAQ,
actually) and it looks interesting. To the effect of my newness, are
there any artchives that are more easily accessible than Google's
rage-inducing Web interface? I would love to catch up (and possibly
contribute) but don't feel comfortable doing so without knowing the
history.

Hi there Chris, and welcome!

I'm not aware of any other major archives that are still working.
Whenever I go to one of the old links from writers sites where they
used to have their stories archived, they're defunct. Since I change
locations so much, and use public computers a lot, I've been pretty
much forced to use Google Groups, and before that, DejaNews. So I
feel your pain.

Since you didn't ask, you may have already found the website and the
faq. Just in case you haven't seen them yet, here they are

Things are kind of starting back from scratch right now, so feel free
to start up a character as you check into the history. Also, please
feel free to leave feedback on any of my threads if you happen to like
somehting there.

I definitely hope you'll join a thread or two,
I'm hoping any characters will stop in and chat with Vintner in my
[Inn] thread. And [Thief] will also always be open for anyone, even
single post characters. I've also got a thread open for planning out
my big story [Unlikely Twins] and to recruit writers.

Welcome!
