First of all, apparently, there is a picture of a CM from Mansion doing
something objectionable posted on the web. THIS IS NOT POSTED ON MY SITE. I
DID NOT TAKE THE PICTURE. THE SITE BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE.
I know the person whose site it is, and I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT OF
OTHER PEOPLE'S WEB PAGES.
Secondly, none of the pictures on Anaheim Mike's page show anyone doing
anything that would merit getting a pass revoked. The pictures are of:
- people walking
- group shots in several places in the park
- people smiling
- someone laughing
These are all things that guests do at Disneyland and are commonplace.
Last, the CM picture in question is NOT among the thumbnails for public viewing
on Anaheim Mike's meet pics page. I did not know it was even uploaded until
someone told me ten minutes ago. It seems that someone did some deep sea
fishing to find this pic.
This is my statement, and I'm sticking to it. If Matt Orkin wants to pick it
apart (as I'm sure he will, considering that he apparently has an unusual
fascination with me), that's fine. I won't see it, because he is killfiled.
But everything he says should be taken with a salt lick. You have to wonder
about someone whose entire life seems to revolve around picking out little
things about people to rake them with and then developing a weird obsession
with slamming them in a public forum. Get a hobby or something. Stamp
collecting is fun.
And Matt, if I wanted to, I could sue your ass for libel. I have a lawyer
sitting here with me, and she says I certainly could. Food for thought.

On Thursday night, several of us went to a mix-in meet. I took quite a few
pictures, and posted some of them on the ADDpics page.

The next day there was a small meet to welcome an adder who came down from
Fresno. I also took pictures at that meet.
I posted all of the pictures I took both days in a temp directory on my home
page.
I gave the URL to people in the #addisneyland channel. Because these were
personal pictures, the link was not posted on the newsgroup (until Matt took
it upon himself to post it).
Apparently someone fueled Matt's fascination with Liz and gave him the URL
to the link where pictures that were intended for people who attend the
meets (and not for the general public or people like Matt who have an odd
obsession with us and delight in ripping apart everything we do) were
located.
Matt: If you don't like us, or think that we are odd, ignore us. Your
obsession with us in general and Liz in particular is kinda scary. I've
only met you once, and you seemed like a nice enough guy in person. What
comes over you when you sit at your keyboard and type venom all day......
Do you need help? Are your obsessions out of control? Is there some sort
of medication that would help you?
You had to dig pretty deep to find the picture you mentioned, Matt. All of
the pictures I took were thumbnailed except that one. How long did you
spend digging through my directory? Hours? It must be nice to have all
of that time on your hands - time you spend to take jabs at a group you say
you have no use for........
You are one very odd guy.

How do you know that I wasn't in that channel? I am there quite frequently.

Yes, someone did infact give me that link.

Oh I'm scary. Its really kinda hard to see things from my perspective, when you
are right there in the nitty gritty of the "Brigade".

Well I was faking it. I am a terrible person. Ask people that know me.

There was a time when DL meets were great. Now they ruin the environment for
all DL guests. That is what I have against you. I can't even go to the park
anymore without running into a couple addrs.

Yes they are out of control. Can you help me?

Actually someone gave me the link, BUT you weren't very good hiding that file.
I was looking at the pictures 112, 113, 115. Where is 114? So all one needed
to do was tryout 114.jpg. Just because you aren't savvy enough to figure this
out, doesn't mean others are. BTW if you didn't want anyone to see it, you
shoulda put it in a protected directory or not posted it at all. It was posted
for the world to see. That is the beauty of the internet.

You might consider that posting that picture on a web page could have
repercussions for the person in the photo. He could likely get fired
for that.
You seem to not care about who you hurt with your photos, yet you wonder

Actually, by posting that picture Mike did nothing to get that guy fired. By
calling public attention to the picture, Matt went alot further in the direction
of getting that guy fired.

Right. This is clarified. But you were there that day. Hugging the CM in
question.

Where does this come? Who said anything about passes being revoked? You should

Yes, but CM's flipping the bird is not commonplace. Not that YOU had anything to
do with it.

It might not be among the thumbnails, but it is for public viewing. He posted the
pic to his directory. It was free to the entire world to view.

Nope. It was right there. He should have been smart and not posted the picture.
Or put a password on it.

Because your reasoning is wrong. How can you know what I said, if you didn't read

The only weird obsessions I know about is going to DL 3-4 times a week. You also

Is it? Maybe you can give me some pointers.

Tell your lawyer friend that it will be a lot easier for me to sue her for
malicious prosecution, than you suing me for libelous with no evidence. The only
evidence I need is your post, which is part of public record. You threatening me,
in a public forum, can also be construed as libelous. I was reporting the news.
Even Dr. Laura couldn't win when people were posting pictures of her "Bush". Tell
your lawyer friend to re-think their strategies. This whole thing is pointless and
ridiculous.

Give me a break. You don't put something up like that in the first
place. If Disney sees it, it can get him fired. It's as simple as
that.
This is the problem. You defend certain people when they do things that
are obviously wrong.
And you wonder why people think you people are more than just "friends
getting together."

Are you kidding me? Mike posted that picture for the world to see. Had he not
wanted the world to see it he would have either: A. Not posted it, or B. Put a
password on it. Ignorance on Mike's part does not make him innocent.
Wait a minute. I have no bone to pick with Liz or Mike. But if you
post something on the internet that can cause someone a problem, it is
not the fault of the person who LOOKS at the picture. It is certainly
more the fault of the person who posted it, and then told people about
it in an IRC channel. All Matt did was spread the word a little bit.
Thats what happens on the internet, and it must be expected. To say
something like "I posted it in a secretive manner and didn't really want
anyone to look at it" is just silly. Once something hits the web, its
everywhere. If it was meant to be private, we all have something called
e-mail that could have been used to show friends the shot, rather than
using the Worldwide Web. Once its out there, forget about it.......
But to be completely truthful, the person to blame if the guy gets
canned is the GUY HIMSELF. He has the responsibility to behave in an
appropriate manner. He was the one flipping the bird. He was the one
who apparently agreed to have his picture taken. I have no clue if he
expected it to appear on the internet, and he may be surprised to find
out it does. But HE was the one doing the deed in the first place and
should suffer whatever consequences may ensue. Of course it would have
been nice if it wasn't put out there for the whole world to see in the
first place..............

The guy that ought to be the most worried is the CM because it's not a
question of 'if' Disney has seen it, Disney HAS seen it. Remember how
many TDA people follow this newsgroup.

I agree that he might have considered a password. But he did not post it for the world
to see. He posted it for a few friends to see. The temp directory in which it was
stored was not linked from his website. He came into IRC and told some of us where to
find the pics. The CM pic was an afterthought, I'm sure. I found it funny, not
offensive. I have dozens of pics of CM's flipping off the camera. You probably have
some too.
I agree with Davko here... the person who most jeopardized this guy's job is the guy
himself. He should know better than to do that, onstage and to someone he doesn't know
personally.
Still, I do think the matter would have been avoided if the newgroup posting never
happened. Then it would have been a case of no harm, no foul.

Yes he did. Maybe he didn't want people to see it, but he posted it to the World Wide
Web. Who knows Saddam Husein could have seen it before I posted it. You never know who
is out there.
> He posted it for a few friends to see.
Then he shoulda e-mailed them the link. IRC is no different than posting to the
newsgroup. The person that gave me the link obviously has an agenda against people in the
IRC group. I can't even get into IRC because I am banned.
> The temp directory in which it was stored was not linked from his website. He came into

Well perhaps he should re-think his practices. That link was given to me and I found it
offensive.

No I don't. And I would never condone behavior like that on-stage. It is extremely bad
show.
> I agree with Davko here... the person who most jeopardized this guy's job is the guy

Well yeah. What I am most curious is what compelled him to do it? That is what
fascinates me.
> Still, I do think the matter would have been avoided if the newgroup posting never

Well there is no foul. I found the link and it was DL related so I posted it. This is a
lesson to not trust anyone on the newsgroup. You never know who your friends really are,
and who may be watching you.
> But he did not post it for the world

Perhaps, then, he should have e-mailed it to those friends, rather than
posting it in a public directory?
Once it was on that directory, then *anyone* theoretically has access.
Maybe Matt shouldn't have made an issue of it -- but if it hadn't been
put up there, then Matt wouldn't have had access ot it to *make* an
issue out of it.

Anyhow, its pretty easy to find the pic. From what it appears, and this
is a complete and utter assumption, the pics are numbered...i.e. 112,
113, 114, 115...etc. When looking through the pics, some people take
note of the name. If you are looking at pic 113, and then the next pic
is 115, you are going to be curious (at least I would be...but I didn't
go to the site, so this may be completely wrong) and type in 114. If
Matt did this, then this is what he found.
Furthermore, the pic was posted on the web without a password. Thus, it
is public. It doesn't matter if there isn't a link, it's fairly easy to
get into the index of a certain directory and see what is in the
directory. What Matt did was nothing wrong.

Sure, but nobody knew where to look. There was no danger anybody would find
it: it was not linked. Until Matt posted the URL to this newsgroup, that
is.
My 2 cents on this: That picture was on the World Wide Web, where anyone could
find it. If it hadn't been Matt to post the link, it could have been someone
else. If the owner of the site didn't want there to be a chance of too many
people seeing it, he shouldn't have put it up on the web. If he wanted certain
people to see it, he should have e-mailed it to just those certain people or,
better yet, put it in a password-protected archive and mailed people the
password to see it.
If you put something on the Web, it's your responsibility, not the
responsibility of the person who points it out. Absolutely anyone could have
found that picture; it just happened to be Matt.

Right. I have many files and "important" documents stored in password protected
directories.

While not trying to "brag" or anything like that, I tend to sometimes
surf sites via directories, in which case I would have noted a 114.jpg
just like any other image.
If Matt found it, then there was indded a "danger" it would be found.
I'm not defending his actions, just pointing out that this was not the

Who Who Who is this? I'm from the area. Finally....a 3rd person that lives
We had a really nice weekend...all the channel grand duchesses were there, and
we had a nice dinner. Kali and I went to DL for dinner before heading to a
club on Saturday night, and today was so pleasant...mint juleps and a New
Orleans Square jazz band. It doesn't get much better than that!

Actually, I said it was wrong of Al to post that crap on his page, and
I've also said it was wrong to put this picture on the web.
These are just people trying to do their little jobs and get through
life. They don't need people on the internet to make their lives
miserable because they have none of their own.
Nobody is perfect in life, and it's very cruel of these people to do
these sorts of things to others like this. But they're a mean group of
people.
Then why aren't you saying it was wrong for someone to post a link to the pic?
You seem to be defending the posting of the link in a public forum. You can
split hairs on this all you want, but it would not have been an issue if the
link wouldn't have been posted.

Personaly, the reason I feel it is incredibly right to post the link to
this pic is because this cast member needs to be terminated for
participating in that event. He is a bad representation of cast members
all over the Disney company, and would do better working in the dairy
queen. I don't think they really care if dairy queen employees give the
bird to the camera while in uniform.

What was wrong, was putting the pic up on the page. I was simply reporting the
news. It was in public interest.
I understand what you are saying, but is posting your opinion about a CM that
does something wrong, any different than what Al was taken to task for?
Wasn't Al's posting of CM's names also public interest?

Yes. I didn't say anything about Al's page.
The only person who had a problem with that was KER (because she was the
person Al was refering to). Why are you blaming me for something I
actualy condoned. I wanted Kimi Rapada gone just like the next ODV Hater
did!
The link would not be known about either, if it was not publicized by
the person who put the picture up.

No. It was a cheap shot at some low level nerd who made a mistake. It
was also part of a pattern of persecution and rampant negativity I found
distasteful. I spoke out against it then too.
Your ire on this occasion should be directed at the person who put the
picture on the World Wide Web, thereby making it accessible to everyone
in the universe, not at the people who saw it and told others.
The other difference is that the low level nerd made a mistake while
attempting to do their job; this particular CM is obviously violating
company policy. The ODV person was doing what he/she thought his/her
bosses wanted them to do. I don't think the HM CM's boss wants their
people to do things like this.
But its all really a tempest in a teapot, isn't it?
Davko58
Dave, I hear what your saying, but the link was posted on the NG because of
personal crap having to do with disagreements in a NG. It has nothing to do
with this CM's performance.

You guys *are* odd and you give DL fans everywhere a bad reputation.

So, let's see. You publish the photos with numbers in consecutive
order and you leave one out. Gee, that was difficult to figure out.
Maybe it would take *you* hours to find it, but for anybody with more
than half a brain, it would take about 5 seconds.

Nope. He adds nothing to the group, and he said he would leave and he didn't.

Ok, let me rephrase slightly.
In the context of visiting a theme park, any adult who goes around
acting like a pirate is odd.
As soon as I saw the header to your post, I knew that I had mistakenly
tarred the image of RF'ers. Wasn't my intent.

This is true, however posting it on a website is the way that it is seen all
over the itnernet,if it wasnt posted nobody would see it....therefore I think
Mike is at least SLIGHTLY resposnable (not completley) but at least
slightly,,,,afterall he did provide you with the means to view this photo that
would not have exsisted if he didnt post it on his site.
Its true that if the CM didnt act in this manner the pic wouldnt exsist and
mike wouldnt have been able to post it,HOWEVER if mike didnt post it on his
site nobody would have seen it either....
