Subject: Re: Earthquake felt in NY area?
Dumb question: in 1985 they told us that quake forebode a "BIG" quake ca 1995
along the lines of the 1812 New Madrid quake. Was this one it?

A decade ago I looked through ProQuest NY Times archives and found
there was NYC damamge some time in the 1930s from a quake.

I suppose the biggest problems in the USA with quakes with long cycle times
is no one really remembers where the last one really hit because those areas
(eg landfill) were not really inhabited.

As best as I can tell from the updates, there's a 15 MPH speed
restriction on the Lehigh Line on both tracks between NK and Aldene.
There have been no public statements as to why, but I assume it's due to
the earthquake.  The Raritan Line is royally screwed up.

Is this more widespread, or is it isolated?

The further south you go the more messed up it is as carriers check
their infrastructure.
