Just curious. This group was active during the big Microsoft antitrust
trial.

It was active long before that. It has being going since 1995. That
trial was only between October 1998 and June 1999

Unfortunately, most have moved on to other forums, normally Web-Sites
dedicated to Linux, Free Software or Open Source, such as Linux Today,
Slashdot, and Groklaw. If you want a good legal coverage of Microsoft's
nefarious activities over the years, the latter of these, Groklaw, has
a good archive. This pretty much conclusively proves what people have been
trying to advocate on this newsgroup since day one.

But there is still activity here, from time to time.

On a good note, it seems that what the courts in the US failed to do, back
in 1999, has now been done in Europe, in 2007: with the Microsoft's appeal
to the European Court of First Instance failing to reverse a decision
earlier, by the European Commission, demanding Microsoft release
information which allows its competitors to interoperate with its
software. The details of this are available on Groklaw:

The writing is on the wall. And the goals of this newsgroup cannot be
far behind.
