I found out specifically what kind of cat I have. She's a "Ragdoll"
Birman: http://www.pictures-of-cats.org/ragdoll-cats.html

They're different from regular Birman cats in that they have deep blue
eyes and have rabbit like fur. They also like water, which explains
why I didn't have any problem giving her a bath. They're also real
vocal, but have a quiet meow.

One thing I've noticed about mine is that she's much more into licking
than any other cat I've known. She likes to perch on the top of my
chair and she'll just sit there and lick my head, sometimes for as
much as an hour at a time. She also drinks a *LOT* of water. I have
to refill her water bowl at least twice a day where as with my other
cat I only need to refill it once every two or three days.

It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to get any of her kittens (she was
pregnant when they brought her into the shelter), I guess the staff
pretty much took first pick and/or sent the rest off to specific breed
shelters because they were never up for adoption on their website.
When I got her two of the staff there had told me that they each had
gotten one of her kittens, so I don't know if she had more than just
those two or not, but they never had them up for adoption.

They generally range in price from $500 to $2,000 depending on how
purebred they are, so I was pretty lucky to get her. From what I've
seen on the Blue Mountain Humane Society website they seem to
generally only offer American shorthairs and generaly mixed cat
breeds, so I would assume if they get any specific breeds they ship
them off to specific cat breed shelters. One of the staff told me
that they actually routinely ship animals between shelters in order to
find homes for them, so I'm assuming that's where some of her kittens
ended up, unless the staff took all of them.

You should take her to the vet and have her kidneys looked at. Cats
should not drink that much water.

I've taken her to the vet a couple times already and they checked her
all out and said she was in good health. Plus if there was something
wrong with her they likely would have noticed it at the shelter.

She might not actually be ~drinking~ all of the water though. As I
said, her breed likes water, so she might be dipping her paw in it and
using it to clean herself...which would explain why she's sometimes
fairly moist. Either that or she's licking herself a whole lot (or my
head) in which case she would need to drink more water. All cat
breeds aren't created equal though, so it's probably just a breed
specific trait. Most of my experience and most people's general
experience is with the shorthair breed, at least here in America (in
Japan it's the bobtail).

The only real "problem" she had when I got her was cat acne, which I
didn't even know there was acne for cats but apparently some cats are
more prone to it via allergies and other factors. I got this stuff to
put on her chin, replaced her original plastic bowls with ceramic
bowls and changed her food and it cleared up in a few days. I guess
though if you leave it untreated it can get pretty nasty, especially
if they scratch at it and it gets infected...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e3/Feline_chin_acne.JPG

Here's a mild case:
http://www.cats-and-facts.com/image-files/cat-acne-pictures-1.jpg

That's basically what hers looked like.

I see. That's a lot different than drinking a lot. Cats tend to have
kidney issues (which is why there is a prescription kidney food) and it
can happen even when they are young especially if they get fed shitty
food from China (remember a few years ago with the melamine in select
brands of cat food?). But if she's playing with it, and maybe the long
hair requires a bit more water for cleaning, it's probably OK. I'd keep
an eye on it though and just in case get her blood tested when you take
her in for shots.

That's nasty. I never knew cats could get acne either.

Actually they make hypoallergenic cats now:

Kinda pricey though and the breed selection is a bit limited.

Or "Sparkling Cider". Or just boil your alcohol and then drink it. I
believe they called it "synthahol" on Star Trek.

The one and only cat I ever own was a cool ass orange tabby that I
bought as a kitten. "Jordan" was a tiny fellow...until he grew
up....he was (last I weighed him) about 40 pounds of pure muscle.
This short haired cat was HEAVY.

And if you weren't careful....he might get mean and.....sit on your
lap!!! He hated other animals (thought raccoons were toys) but LOVED
people...perfect stranger or not...didn't matter. He'd purr and rub
up against you at first meeting...if you sat down, he was there
(erf!!) heavy boy...major lover kitty.

Unfortunately, when ex-wife and I moved with him, although he was an
indoor/outdoor cat, we left in the apartment for the first 2
weeks....tried to let him to test after that...he ran
away....sucks....oh well.
