I put some portraits of my cats up at
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=965426
Some are good, some are overdone and a couple should knock your socks off.
I'm thinking about starting a pet portrait business, selling cat photos, cards,
etc.. Haven't seen anything out there that I'd call quality and wanted to see
what I could do with what I had, both in terms of camera and software. All were
shot with my Oly 2000Z digital, using natural daylight, no flash.
Also on that site are a couple of race photos, to illustrate what I wrote in
another thread about taking the photo being only a part of the creative process
in digital photography.
Comments welcome.

Wonderful! I love the cats, and I especially like the background in the
third racing shot. It reminds me of those liquidy, almost runny oil
backgrounds Bernie Fuchs creates in his paintings. Very nice.

They look great Laura, and you have a great idea for the pet portrait thing.
Good luck!

Hi Laura!,
Oh, fabulous shots! I like Emily. Wait till Debbie sees these kitties! Where
are your clapboards?
I think your idea is a good one. You may want to include a calendar (just
heard someone talking about that!), postcards, bookmarks, Christmas cards,
and mousepads. Love the racing shots. Those would make great posters! Good
Luck!

Thanks for all the kind words. I am going to try to get a business going with
this. I do love doing it and have taken good shots of animals other than my
own.

I don't like cats but I like your photos! Really nice especially considering
the fact that they are digital shots!

Please add me to your mailing list and send me some kind of
reminder at Christmas time. I might want you to do a portrait for
my cousin -- she's the proud owner of one of those
beats.....errr...I mean lovely animals.

I've just taken a peek, and love them. I used to have a cat that looked like
Madam President. Emily is gorgeous. My two longhairs plus Emily would produce
enough hair to stuff a mattress. (Thank goodness our third is a
shorthair...except she talks as much as a Siamese... eeek!)

Tiger, the orange tabby, is probably my biggest shedder. Everytime I brush him
I get enough fur for a good sized kitten.
Emily does photograph beautifully. About the only way people will ever see her.
She's a cross between a Maine Coon and a tortoiseshell Persian-type (all
strays), weighs close to 30lbs. and is afraid of her own shadow. Peaches (she's
a Georgia cat), who weighs in at 6 pounds, beats her up regularly.

<g> Sounds like those little bitty dogs that will (want to) take on a St. Bernard.

30 lbs?? Wow. Maine Coon cats are usually pretty big, aren't they? I've always
wanted one.
I'm glad she's not pure Persian if they're still breeding them with the smushed-in
nose. Have always thought that was a dreadful mistake.
