Does anyone know of a tutorial that will help me take a normal picture
(taken with my digital) and in PhotoShop 6 make it look like an oil painting
that has heavy brush strokes (thick application)?

I'm looking for heavy texture and still have a good semblance to the
original.

I know this is a tough one to describe but I'm willing to try all
suggestions.

Oh, I do have Classic Painter, if that will work better...

As usual, Thanks

Hi Peach -

I don't know of a specific tutorial, but I recommend visiting wetcanvas.com -
sign up (free, of course) and check out / post in their "digital" (or something
like that) forum.

If nobody has a better answer, of course.

Glad you like it.

Take it with a big grain of salt... criticism is generally *way* too kind (if
you post work) - and several people there continually post images run through
Photoshop filters as original oil paintings and things.

Good luck!

Though there are some nice brushes in Painter Classic, you won't have
the option to paint thick brush strokes (light and shadows to make them
look thick). To do that, with Impasto brushes, other brushes set to
Impasto Depth and Color, and Liquid Ink brushes that can be set to
varying depths, and have many more options and features... buy full
Painter.... current version is Painter 7.

Painter Classic is an appetizer and quite limited. Check the tutorials
in the Pclassic.pdf (Painter Classic User Guide) on your CD for Clone
Painting instructions if you're going to stick with Painter Classic.
