My advice is to keep the site as clean, uncluttered, and as easy to navigate as possible. If it is
going to be on the internet (and not on a disk), you will want to accommodate those with slower
modem connections. I'm still not quite happy with my sites download times. A good idea often, is to
have thumbnailed images of your work that can be clicked on to see a larger version of the work. You
can often keep a thumbnail down to 5kb, allowing you to have a handful of thumbnails per page. As
for the navigation, make it obvious to the user where they are, and how they can advance or get out.
It is also recommended (although my site does not do this) that your site have text links for the
viewer, just in case an image is broken, and they can't click through.

A lot of people on this site have a good online portfolio, so I'm sure you will get some good
feedback. I'd say just keep on tweaking it. It often takes people months of tinkering here and there
before they start to become satisfied with what they see.
