Yes! I used pastel and/or prisma colors with turpentine. I got some really
great painterly effects and it made blending easy as well. The downside was
that the lightfast quality was reduced tremendously. A picture would fade
in months. The mediums were of good quality so I was surprised. It could
have been the turp. Another neat trick is blending pastel with baby powder.
you can get some excellent gradations.

I wonder if you can spray the finished piece with some kind of fixative so
it doesn't fade.

Just kidding..Never did BUTANE..I've done gas and glue though whenever I was a
kid..

Hey...Do you all remember RUSH? You used to be able to buy it at porn shops and
stuff??

The finished product tended to have a plastic finish and would reject the
fixative. Um... like car wax and water. But I say try it. It is great for
temp projects that only have to be around for a few weeks or months. Images
you use for design work instead of artwork should be fine. Draw the
picture, then scan it. It will last forever with no fade in your PC. :)
And please let me see what you get out of it. There seemed to be a lot of
potential with this.

Oh yes, that's true. I could scan it. I'll have to give it a try -- I
bought this new all-natural turpentine stuff -- supposedly it's non-toxic
and works pretty much the same as regular turpentine.
