Marine Lance Cpl. Jason Tetrault was told he could not bring his
beloved football to Kuwait, but that did not stop him from hiding a
deflated ball in a boot when he shipped out in January.

"A sergeant of his told me Jason was always getting a football game
together whenever he could," said his mother, Mary Carriere. "He just
loved the game, and if he wasn't playing, he'd just be flipping a
football in the air."

Tetrault, 20, of Moreno Valley, Calif., died July 9 in a vehicle
accident in Kuwait, according to the Defense Department. His aunt,
Clasina Roberts, said military officials told the family he died after
a vehicle he was driving flipped over and his head hit the pavement.

Tetrault, who was with the 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division,
played quarterback for four years at Moreno Valley High School. Just
