Hi megank! of course I remember you, from a long long time ago when
UseNut was alive and thriving and we were all squirming to get by....
I am all grown up and only partially depressed now, but thinking about
returning to full time again.

Is depression a lifestyle choice these days?

What are the advantages?

No, but living with an abusive manipulative dickweed is a lifestyle
choice - as is leaving one. Makes a hell of a difference in
situational depression. Now your standard chemical depression may or
may not be lifestyle related depending upon your habits.. Stay on the
computer all night and out of the sun all day, yeah - that's a
lifestyle choice and definitely a cause of chemical imbalances in the
brain.

Being born and having parents who let you scream all the time instead
of picking you up, that's not really a choice - does do some great
tricks on the old brain chemistry for the long term though, that is
one of your non lifestyle choice causes... Having a wonked up
serotonin uptake due to brain fucked uppedness not related to anyone
being a dick at any time in your life is also not a lifestyle choice,
and happens...

So to answer your question, yes and no - it always has been for some,
and has always been thrust upon others. Personally, I've been thrust
upon AND chosen both in my lifetime. We'll see how the shit rounds out
in this upcoming final half.

There are no advantages, except that somehow most depressed people are
less boring than happy people who are happy because they just bought
something.
