Subject: 2 lines from a single line phone
I'd like to be able to use my VOIP service from any phone in the house
_AND_ keep my existing POTS service.   Is there a way I can connect a
single line phone (actually the whole house) to both the incoming POTS line
and the VOIP service and select the VOIP service via some key sequence
(i.e. '*')

"yes, but".....

it is *expensive*.

To do that, you need a "PBX".

If you'll settle for a separate switch outside the phone, you can get the
appropriate part at Radio Shack (a 'dpdt' switch) for around $5.

Your choice.  <grin>
