Guys in suits and Fedoras wandering around a huge high-technology
city, bright on the outsite, but dark and gritty on the inside...

I was watching the Battlestar Galactica finale last night and saw the
promos for Caprica, the spinoff they're working on and I couldn't help
but notice the cyberpunkish imagery. Of course, Cyberpunk is usually
depicted as all Blade Runner, bleak urban wasteland/dystopia....

I have to disagree. Caprica is nothing like cyberpunk. It lacks the
dehumanization of cyberpunk, and I'd say it depicts a soft science
fiction alternate reality rather than a dystopia so... No cyberpunk for
Caprica, sorry :)

I have to agree I just don't see this as cyberpunk. though I don't see
cyberpunk as being dehumanizing there is some plot lines under tonnes of
that. Caprica whether someone sees it as an utopia or dystopia world
doesn't make it a cyberpunk series even with the high technology in it.
that's like argue that Star Trek is cyberpunk because of Data being a
robot.
