I might be looking for a new newsgroup to bring my friends for a chat, but
wouldn't want to disrupt anything already established. Our regular NG has
turned into a political battlefield and we miss our easy friendly chats.

I'd post here if I knew how to get here.

Welp, haha on you, you're here! Google Groups has alt.cybercafes....and
shows a history of nothing but spam...the last one posted in Feb. No peeps
have posted. We'd have to be careful not to let the namecallers and
rabblerousers hear of it. We could email only our friends. So whadaya say?
Wanna move in?

Heh heh...not too much dust in the corners, chairs look comfy enough.
You s'pose there's an oven somewhere so's I can bake my brownies?
Let's see what happens 'till the landlord shows up. ;-]

<G> I like the way you think. Yes, a cafe would have an oven! Also lots of
tables for all sorts of conversations, nothing barred, even politics....BUT
we will not put up with any attacks or nastiness. Ya know, the a**holes
could find us easily enough...just google our email addys on google groups.

Let's let it ride a little longer...see what happens.

Happy Memorial Day. (I wrote a nice blog about our brave war dead)

And I'm here, but lurking. No one else posting particularly about
cybercafes at the moment.

OK, I'll bite :-)

I'm in UK.
At the exit from my local town's bus station are two net opportunities.
One is a computer shop, which has facilities I *assume* are directed at
gamers.
The other is run by w*nkers who do not know how to provide printing
facilities.

Maybe I am old-fashioned, having been used to using the net with DOS,
but I prefer to take a laptop containing my archives to a net cafe, than
to use a web interface for e-mail.

Equally, Usenet is ideal for reading and writing off-line, then
connecting when opportunity arises.

My particular interest in cybercafes is those in countries where net
access is not readily available.
My ex-sister-in-law had to wait 5 years for a land-line to be installed
in her apartment.
