GOOD RIDDANCE LINDA CHAVEZ!

Linda Chavez, President-elect George W. Bush's nominee for labor secretary,
allowed a Guatemalan woman who was in the United States illegally to live in
her home and gave the woman spending money, ABC News reported.

ABC quoted Chavez as saying through a Bush spokesman that the woman did odd
jobs around her home and was occasionally given spending money, although Chavez
did not consider the money as compensation for work.

That's like a guy saying, I had an escort spend an hour with me, she kindly
performed certain acts of a sexual nature, and I gave her some spending money,
but I did not consider the money as compensation for her labor.

A Bush spokesman said Chavez suspected the woman was in the country illegally,
but did not worry about it because Chavez was not employing her when she lived
in Chavez's home in the early 1990s.

Chavez "suspected" that the woman was an illegal alien? Yeah, right! Of course,
Chavez knew that this woman was in the country illegally. Chavez didn't want to
ask too many questions because its hard to find help who will do grunge work
around the house for "spending money."

Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota said that if the Chavez
report was true, it could cause major problems for her nomination.

Labor unions worry that Chavez, a strong opponent of affirmative action, will
not look after their best interests.

Chavez, 53, is an outspoken critic of so-called affirmative action programs for
blacks, Hispanics and others. She believes U.S. minority groups can succeed
without special help from the government.

Chavez, is a poor choice to head the labor department. She exploited a fellow
Latina and then a Bush spokesperson had the gall to portray her exploitation as
"an act of charity and compassion." I urge the Senate not to approve her
nomination.

Editorial Note: I wrote this essay to register my outrage at the selection of
Linda Chavez to head the labor department. Thank goodness she dropped out.
Maybe now she will have the time to learn how to speak Spanish.

Will someone please explain the word, "exploitation" here?
Sounds to me as if whatever arrangement Chavez had with
the illegal immigrant was very much to the advantage of
(and appreciated by) the Guatemalan woman.

What is meant by "exploitation"?

Typical liberal.
Likes to throw words around.
Ask him what he's talking about and
he's stuck for an answer.
