BLUE MEANIES... GUILT BY ZONING

By: Carole Ward

Paul Begala - clintonista slasher and socialist hack, suggested
that MSNBC readers take a closer look at who voted for Dubya,
pointing to the Red Zones on the electoral map.

"Yes, …tens of millions of good people in Middle America voted
Republican. But if you look closely at that map (red marked Bush)
you see a more complex picture. You see the state where James
Byrd was lynch-dragged behind a pickup truck until his body came
apart - it’s red. You see the state where Matthew Shepard was
crucified on a split-rail fence for the crime of being gay - it’s
red. You see the state where right-wing extremists blew up a
federal office building and murdered scores of federal employees
- it’s red. The state where an Army private who was thought to be
gay was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat, and the state
where neo-Nazi skinheads murdered two African-Americans because
of their skin color, and the state where Bob Jones University
spews its anti-Catholic bigotry: they’re all red too.", said
Begala.

Oooooh goodie …

This juicy proclamation opens the floodgates, insuring
Algorlagniacs an uninterrupted stream of abuse. It’s now open
season on habitués of the Blue Zone, who voted overwhelmingly for
the Gore. Identification and classification of Algore voters is
the most fun this woman can have with her eyes open. Where to
start? Los Angeles? New York? Boca? Detroit?

Visions of Rockerisms dance in my head.

Mr. Begala’s ill-conceived use of guilt by zoning may be
dismissed by some as mere hyperbole -the raucous estrogenics of a
gender-confused partisan desperately in need of a parvo shot.
Cooler heads on the left caution us that the thoroughly
"discredited" use of ethnic, racial and geographic
generalizations befoul the political landscape during the
November rut. What’s more, generalizations are an unfortunate
reminder of who and what lives in the Blue Zone.

Dems can’t allow any of that. Half their membership requires
cliff notes to remember which consonants to use when greeting
strangers… Yo. Eh. Wazzupp. This is a lose-lose for the party of
misfits, rag-tags and biological errors. Generalizations are not
their friend. But let’s not dwell on the obvious. There is no
sport in shooting ducks in a barrel.

Let’s have a look at the less conspicuous, but thoroughly
loathsome genealogy of the Democratic base in Northern
California. How about greener-than-thou San Francisco? Denizens
of this oh-so environmentally sensitive city must rank as the per
capital leader in "Save Mono Lake" bumper stickers. Fabled
streets and bridges teem with motorists advertising their concern
for the Sierra lake being sucked dry by demon Los Angeles. How
dare they "throw up more desert suburbs connected by tangled
freeways filled with air-choking cars driven by vulgar Angelenos
wearing unnatural fibers"? San Frans tend not to dwell much on
their own source of water, which they imagine is delivered on
horseback, in recyclable vessels, from renewable sources, by
eager eco volunteers, with proceeds going to rain forest
preservation.

Alas, it is not. San Francisco fills it’s Starbucks mugs from a
Tuolumne River valley called Hetch Hetchy, which was flooded for
thirsty San Francisco, 80 some years ago. This magnificent valley
mirrored Yosemite as a natural wonder. John Muir is said to have
died of a broken heart when he failed to save this temple of the
Sierras from the voracious thirst of San Francisco. A Reagan
cabinet member once suggested that Hetch Hetchy be drained and
restored to it’s natural beauty, but then-mayor Diane Feinstein
sputtered that the devastated valley-turned-reservoir was the
"birthright" of the city. So you won’t see any "Reclaim Hetch
Hetchy" bumper stickers in northern California.

More recently California urban water managers came together to
sign the momentous Bay-Delta accord, agreeing to give up a
portion of their water supplies to help restore rivers and
estuaries in that water hungry state. Rather than savor the
afterglow of selfless conjugere with resource management, San
Franciscans rolled over the following morning and didn’t like
what they saw. Those adulterous greenies decided they would
rather vote Blue. So under the cover of San Francisco journalism,
city attorneys quietly entered a Sacramento courthouse, filing a
challenge to the provisions of the nuptials which required San
Frans to contribute a portion of their water to protect
downstream ecology. The city’s brief suggested that if such
sacrifice could not be pruned, divorce was inevitable, and the
accord should be junked in its entirety. Red voters need always
beware of self-satisfied blue-meanies in green eyeshades.

Blue bastions produce an endless variety of peculiarly irksome
and conflicted creatures, who, thankfully, play only a small and
passing role in our lives --and THEN only if we are so indiscreet
as to travel knowingly into incubators such as Santa Fe or Aspen.
Should we be so unfortunate as to accidentally wander into one of
these places for a meal or a hotel room, we can expect to be met
with condescending looks of apology for the addresses we admit to
on our registrations. Aspenites and Santa Feans believe in the
sanctity and equality of genetic coding, but hold a dimmer, more
fatalistic determinism for those of us with lesser zip codes.

Witness the phenomenon that is the Aspen service worker. He/she
may not deliver your soups, salads or desserts in the proper
order, or at all. But when they do, even without forks or spoons
-- be advised by that look of disdain they offer in judgment of
rigid criteria for sequential dining. Don’t you know? Aspenites
are of self evidently superior stock, above average in looks,
thoughts, and skin tone. They can empty a trust fund faster than
a Compton welfare queen, but with panache. They may not possess
pedestrian customer service skills, but they are forever
redeemed, if only in their own minds, by their advanced degrees
in Anazasi pottery, or reef biology. And they vote Blue.

Ditto for the Santa Fe art dealer. This enterprise is never for
profit, but rather a crafty and tax-deductible scheme to keep
aging, disposable wives, passive, and cheerfully absent from far
away husbands in New York or Boston. There is no down side to
these operations, which line the canyon lands of Sedona, Santa Fe
and other Blue bastions. Savvy men are free of their dilettante
wives who dwell in fully deductible vacation homes, accumulating
losses against profits, hawking water colored Appaloosas, and
weathered indigenous faces. These exemplary Americans proudly
vote Blue as well.

I think we can agree that Ms Begala has opened a can of
generalities, which threaten to infect the body politic -and not
in his favor. Blues who share ethnicity with men who dress up
like Abe Lincoln, in top hats and pigtails, and spend their days
banging their heads against a wall in Jerusalem, should not
engage in the politics of geography or ethnicity. Ditto for
Broward county seniors, who live in gated communities, yet
augment their grocery list with condiments stolen from the local
diner.

For those in fly over country who proudly voted Red, remember
this. We tend to think of life as bleak when we cannot find a
parking space in the first row at the mall. There is nothing like
reading the Boston papers, to put life’s little trials in their
proper perspective. When I read that Boston public schools had
sanctioned a Jr high school course, which celebrated the joys of
experiencing someone’s fist in my vagina, I immediately called
our local high school principal. I told him I needed an email
address because I wanted my words on record. I assured him that
if my 15-year-old daughter EVER came home with stories of any
such instruction, I would be in jail within 24 hours on assault
charges. I asked him if he understood and believed me. He said he
did.

Then I sent a letter to the president of the NEA, who spoke to
homosexual groups around the country lauding this new approach to
"self awareness and healing" in pre-pubescent teens who believe
they were issued the wrong plumbing in life. I reiterated my
threat and asked for a confirmation of my words. I never got one.

That’s unfortunate. For some unsuspecting diesel dyke is going to
end up with my foot stuck up her ass, if she is assigned to my
daughter’s classroom. Readers can take that message to the bank
here in Red rock country.

But those same "middle americans" also put dozens of senators and
representatives into their positions. In many cases, simply voting for Bush
is no indication of the democratic senators, state governorships, and majority
of democratic congressmen. Texas has more Democrats in their congressional
delegations, South Dakota has BOTH democratic senators, so your premise is as
loony as the fringe you write from.

No, lets continue to look at the genealogy of conservatives.

Slave owners, entrenched corrupt state and local governments shrouding
themselves in "states rights" to legitimize civil rights abuses, Homophobia,
racism, Jim Crow, lynchings, beatings, thuggery of all kinds, fearmongering
(soviet/chinese bogeymen), self serving greed, and now arguing that machines
are better than people.

Still fighting the "fringe lunatic syndrome", eh, carol honey?
